Clamp for top and deck solenoids

Post by JPlincolnman »

Hello everyone,
My father and I are installing the new pump, lines, cylinders, and solenoids in his 63 convertible Lincoln. As others have noted with the new parts, the new solenoids are larger than the originals. Where is everyone getting clamps the correct size to hold the new solenoids? I have looked locally, but have not had any luck finding any. Thank you in advance for the help! -JP

I replaced my convertible top hydraulic pump, lines, and lifts a few years back. I ran into the same issue with the diameter of new solenoids being larger, and the existing mounting clamps wouldn’t fit. New clamps that fit weren’t available from the parts supplier.

So I bought these https://shop.marshfasteners.com/prodinf ... BCLMPBAG28

#28 Cushion Clamp 1 3/4 304 Stainless - BAG OF 10, but you only need 3. You can also find them offered by other on-line retailers.

For these, you have to peel off the rubber insulator so that the solenoid can ground through the p-clamp to the body. It's a tight fit and takes some forming of the p-clamp around the solenoid, but it works and I've never had any trouble with them.
