I notice when I hit a big bump when the car is lowered (it had air ride) and the top is up, I hear something bang metal to metal like something Is loose. The only thing I could think of is the flipper panel. There does not seem to be much play, but I noticed on the drivers side there is a good size rubber bumper between the panel and the trunk, but the passenger side is not there.
I checked both Steele Rubber and Rubber The Right Way and neither list it. Is there a reproduction or am I on the hunt for a used? Or other ideas what else could move enough to bang?

Re: Flipper Panel Bumper
Is the bumper attached to the deck lid?

Re: Flipper Panel Bumper
Can you show a photo Mike? Then maybe I might have a better idea of what you are referring to. Because steele has the weatherstripping for most if not all the 65 vert.

Re: Flipper Panel Bumper
When I went out today to get a pic of it, I raised the flipper and got a close look at it. It looks like a piece of thick weather stripping glued to the deck lid and is not rubber like a bumper.
It looks like there was one on the other side at one time but not now. Is this a stock piece, or was it added?

Re: Flipper Panel Bumper
It appears this is a bumper on the deck lid.
Based on the MPC Illustration book the basic part number is -46679-. That part number has a * in front. Not sure if that means it is a standard part (like fasteners) or is no longer available.
Unfortunately the the MPC text does not even list that basic part number.
I would say that is a stock piece or a part installed at the factory.
You state it is not made of rubber. What is it made of?

Re: Flipper Panel Bumper
I guess when I said it wasn’t rubber, I should have clarified not a hard rubber. It is more of a foam rubber like a thicker piece of say trunk weather strip.
As I mention it seems to be glued on, so I would think anyone painting their car would remove it prior to paint, and would think many them would have replaced it with something, as I can’t seem to find a listing for it anywhere on any vendor site.

Re: Flipper Panel Bumper
If it is foam it can be made easily. There are many vendors that sell foam. In all kinds of sizes, thickness and hardness.
I would not want to tool up for something that can be easily made already.
