Broken piece, but why

Postby Primo » Sat Apr 13, 2019 1:50 pm

This window tension bracket (the same piece Jay Leno replaced) broke on my 66 vert. I was told it broke due to improper maintenance and living if the top. Before I shell out the money to replace the piece is there a guide to the maintenance of the top? Anybody want to sell me that piece for cheap lol

Since I have the same vehicle I would like to know what maintenance is proper.

The piece looks as if it is internal to the door. If so there is no maintenance that I am aware of that requires door panel removal.

Not sure what living if the top means either.

The piece forces the rear window into position when the top is up. its located on the rear outside of the top frame. The top needs to be lubed or apparently it will cause the ear to break and really muck up the frame to the top. I seem to remember having a guide to the top maintenance or at least seeing on for sale online.
