Convertible Top Suppliers?

Post by mge825y »

I know the preferred vendor of choice for replacement convertible tops is Jim Wallace. But Jim is a little backed up right now and wondering if anyone has used another supplier?

Has anyone used these guys? https://keeautotop.com/

I purchased a Kee top for my '67 through Hydro E Lectric. It had a stitching defect, which Kee would not honour, nothing but bad vibes from them. Hydro E, agreed with my complaint, and sent an Electron top as a replacement. It was higher quality, neater stitching, and fit perfectly.
I will not buy another Kee, will be ordering an electron top for my '62 when it's ready for one, through Hydro E.
I may still have pictures of the defect, I could send them to your E Mail if you would like.

I got a top for a 71 LTD from here

It did not get installed as the paint shop never completed their work.

Thanks for the info Fraser & Action.

Other fellow convertible owners - do you have and convertible top suppliers that you would recommend (or disavow)?

Thanks for any feedback you can share

Robbins has been making good tops for a long time.
My dad had his 67 top replaced back in 1969 and it was a good product then
They are still making tops and doing a good job.

I prefer Jim Wallace because his kits are more complete (including top pads)

Thanks for the info John - I'm a Jim Wallace fan too. As it turns out, Jim was able to acquire some materials and is in the process of building me a top that should be ready soon. So I won't have to look for a top from other "Plan B" suppliers after all!

Last week I was in Florida checking on my car (it's with the good folks at Lincoln Land). Jim Wallace was able to make a new top for me so I drove up to see him finish it and take it back to Lincoln Land where it was installed. Jim has a great setup and does fine work and was good to finally meet him in-person.
