X Plan

Post by Stuart M. Cohen »

The lease on my Escape ends this month, so Tuesday I picked up my new C-Max. While nothing out there really appeals to me stylishwise, I was attracted by the potential of getting 40 mpg. My Escape got 24, so this could be really nice. I test drove the Fusion and C-Max hybrids, and liked the C-Max because it had more interior room, at least for me.

X Plan saved me just over $200 on the price, and another $200 on the fees. I had to compare prices between dealers so I could see what the X Plan would actually do, and I guess that since the one I wanted was a 2013 model, they were willing to discount it a lot. Even though I had minimal interaction with the sales people, they still suck and are slimy. I really hope that when this lease is up I can get my Tesla....

So, for anyone who is not a member and is thinking about getting any Ford, join and get the number.

Thanks Glen!

Stu,

Glad to help. We've gotten LCOC members a lot of X Plan PINs and they've saved from hundreds to thousands of dollars, depending on the model, time of year, desperation of dealer, etc. It's a real benefit, plus you can tell your friends that joining LCOC will make them eligible for the X Plan.

The dealer told me it takes about 6,000 miles before you really start getting the high mpgs you're supposed to get. The car is rated for 47, and I anticipate getting 40 based on the kind of driving I do. Had the car for just over 2 weeks (about 1,000 miles) and filled it up for the second time. Got over 40 mpg on the second tank and cumulative mpg is over 38. So far, so good.....

Break-in still has to occur. It's when the initial edges and friction surfaces of parts are worn down just enough before real wear sets in. 6000 miles sounds a little high, but if you track it, you'll see it change until your driving habits stabilize.
