Re: Need ideas for future LCOC Web Site Features
Attached is the proposal I presented to the board at the 2009 Winter Meeting in Houston.
It is a PDF file and 1.5MB in size.

Nice presentation and more important, the ideas are needed. I was on the LCOC site today and it struck me that it was outdated. You did not say how well the proposal was received. Is it going to happen? The implementation timeline is feasible, but we are already in 1Q-09.

The presentation was accepted enthusiastically and I was complimented by several members. It was nice.

It was more impressive in real life as Keynote (not Powerpoint) has some pretty impressive animations which obviously are not in the PDF file.Stuart M. Cohen wrote:Great job as usual, Dan! I'm looking forward to the update.

2009 LCOC Web Site Progress
I have all the LCOC "staff" now set up with forwarding email addresses.
I will work on adding at-large directors and then regional directors. They will all get a firstname.lastname@LCOC.org address. Since it only forwarding to the users original email, the reply address will be different.
Rich Peterson is also working on reworking old pages with new technology. They might look similar, but underhood, they are easier for him to update.
Keep an eye on this thread for further updates.
In other news, I am working on creating the first PDF directly from digital of Continental Comments (an issue from 2003). Charlie Blais is working on scanning and making PDFs of the first CCs issues using OCR software. Eventually, every issue will be digitized.
Rich is going to have the latest meeting information on the site soon, also.

Re: Future LCOC Web Site Features: Updated
I noticed the changes the other day, and was going to post about it, but you beat me to it. I'm really happy to see that it's being updated. Great job so far Dan!
Maybe if we can locate the permanent LCOC Library, it can be uploaded to the site. If we have to start from scratch, I'd be willing to upload the literature that I have, as long as it can be organized properly. Of course it would take a great a deal of time, but we have to start somewhere.

Dan,
Excellent job on the website! I am excited to learn that "Lincoln and Continental Comments" will also be available digitally sometime soon.
