The term "Rare"

This forum is for discussion of those terms we see in car ads and articles that can be misleading, misunderstood, or misused. The goal is to arrive at definitions we all can agree upon.

Did you know that there was a very rare option in 1966 called the "Striver St Louis edition" Lincoln? (this dipstick cannot even spell the emblem right)
I think you have insulted the dipsticks everywhere......... :D

That moron is so stupid he hasn't figured out that is a dealer's emblem.
THIS LINCOLN CONTINENTAL IS A SPECIAL 1966 STRIVERS ST. LOUIS EDITION. THERE ARE ONLY A COUPLE LEFT IN THE WORLD, PERHAPS EVEN NONE.
Not only that this one may not even exist since maybe "none" remain.

A prime example of terminal cranial rectalitis........ :D

well, I emailed the seller of that car, and He told Me that 'Bakers' told Him it was a 'one of a kind' he also wanted to know where I got the info that strivers St. Louis is nothing more than a car lot?

He sounded just a little upset... LOL

I emailed him also. I told him that if someone actually DID win the auction for the car and found out the truth about how 'Rare' it was, they could most likely sue him in small claims court for fraud. I advised him to cancel the auction before he receives a bid, and retool the car description before restarting it again. I doubt he will do this, he probably thinks we are conspiring to take this one-of-a-kind car away from him for mere pennies on the dollar. What a maroon!

It's Stivers, no "r".

There is a Stivers Street in St. Louis, MO.

What a jerk. That took me about 10 seconds on Mapquest. Great research!

Further search found Stivers Automotive Group that owns dealerships in several states. There is currently a Stiver Lincoln-Mercury in SC.

Who's gonna tell this guy?

There is little worse than someone totally eaten up with the D.A., except for a gullible D.A.

I just received this from the eBay cowboy in question...

"ya someone else messaged me and told me about that. i didnt know about this at all, theres a company called bakers auto who specializes in lincolns and lincoln parts and they told me it was a special edition apperantly. im going to change the information on the item today. thank you so much for messaging me about this. bye"

I guess emailing him DID work, after all. My work here is now done.(cue triumphant music, as I walk into the sunset) :D

The way I feel today, it wouldn't be a white horse, but a white 'hearse', most likely. Last night while cleaning my FAL, I got a drop of nitro-solvent in my eye. Talk about pain! I flushed it right away but there is still some redness there. Besides, I've been on a horse just once in my life and I'm sure neither one of us wants to repeat the experience. The way I see it the only useful horse is in a jar labeled "GLUE". Yeehah, ride 'em cowboy!... not.
