The future of the Forum: Look
The phpBB software we use is going to be revamped for version 3.0 which is coming soon. Before I move to it, I would like to hear some opinions about it.
http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewforum.php?f=1
One thing I noticed is the reversal of the post and the poster. The poster's name is on the right and not the left. It might be a configurable option. There may be many other options.
What do you think?

It has a softer look to it. I like it. I don't like the swap of post & poster. I hope it is more customizable and more secure than version 2.0.
I like the Announcements section. I think it can do sub-forums, something I want to implement here.

The older we get the less we adapt well to change. That being said, we'll get over it. Go for it.

It is the future, but not today. It's not released yet. Maybe by the end of the year.

I will make a backup and possibly mirror the old forum since we have plenty of storge space, but ultimately, with progress comes setbacks.
I think many of the posts are still in the database, but for some reason the search feature can't access them.
Ever have a search come up with 1 or more matches, but the screen is empty? That's something I think I can fix (with the right tools).
The original forum is still there, just turned off. I can always try combining them to make sure nothing is missed, but it is still possible to lose something.
