Re: ‘72 window motor
I think you got it on all points. The upper part of the channel is the most important part since the arm is pushing a plastic piece in the upper part of the channel when the window is going up. And the most pressure is in that direction. The weight of the window will tend to move the window in the down ward direction. And you got some lube on the center guide so you are good. If the pivot gets anything it is more than it was originally made.
An yes the motor can be installed with the window in any position. As long as the motor mounting fully engages the mount points you are good to go!!!

Yes you are!!!
Should work real nice when you get it back together.
After installing the motor an connecting, it might be a good idea to operate the window up and down once to make sure it is good to go before installing inner door panel.

Re: ‘72 window motor
Ok we’re on track. Reinstalled the motor and the window is now working properly, a victory vid will be provided a little later. Took a couple of tries to get the gear to seat properly, but quickly found all I had to do was peek down in the door to make sure the motor was seated right. Vapor barrier reinstalled and I hope to do the rest tomorrow. I’ll post a wrap up then.
Thanks all, particularly Action and Tony, for walking me through this.
