I'm working on a '61 vert that I just picked up. The plastic arm of the turn signal switch is broken (inside the column). What are you guys doing to fix them? I don't think replacements are available... has anyone modified a different one to fit?
Thanks

Re: 1961 Turn Signal Switch
turn signal switches are one of those parts that I swear they hang from a string and build the car around it. I dread doing that job again.

If the switch is not broken, you can screw in a replacement handle. Go to : https://ownster.com/parts and search for the turn signal arm. There are 2 NOS ones on Ebay at this time.

Re: 1961 Turn Signal Switch
The switch is the broken part. The arm that sticks out of the column is ok, it is the little arm inside that moves up an down. It works for the right signal, but it is cracked and won't engage the left signal.
I haven't been able to find anything... so are my only options a good (60 year old) used one... or swapping the entire column out for something more custom?

Re: 1961 Turn Signal Switch
Is an arm broken from the cam on the switch?
There are repair kits. I have not found one for your Lincoln.
Dorman is a maker of these.
Ecklers may have one as well.
With that said, I bought one for an Econoline. I was not good with the cam replacement. I ended up buying an entire switch.
And it was before YOUTUBE was available. That would be a good reference.

Re: 1961 Turn Signal Switch
Look at this Ford / Mercury switch, it may work in your Lincoln https://www.ebay.com/itm/373454505224
Or is yours this style: https://www.ebay.com/itm/324434626222 and maybe you could modify it to fit your car.
There are a couple of others that may be slightly different that might work. If you can post a photo, it would be easier to find a compatible switch.
You can also try Rearcounter.com if you have the part number. Someone may have one and listed it there.
