Hey guys, decided to forge my own path with my electric wiper conversion. I used a motor from an 95 Jeep Wrangler: https://www.ebay.com/itm/370890857733
And a universal wiper switch: https://www.ebay.com/itm/311171719566
I started out by removing the stock wiper motor:
Here is the old Hydro-Wipe:
Next I removed the high-pressure line from the steering box to the wipers, and I cut down the rigid low-pressure return line that ran from the wipers to the reservoir. I added a flare fitting, and hooked the return line to the reservoir direct to the steering box. My steering box uses rigid mounts to the frame so i wasnt worried about having a flex line on it. :
Then i cut the Jeep plug off the new motor, replaced it with a 4-pin weatherpack, and mounted it to the cowl. I ended up adding two washers between the motor and the cowl to get it to sit a bit lower; but i dont have a pic of that on my phone so this is just of it during mock-up:
I then made a new custom wiper arm out of some flat stock steel. It is approx 1/2" longer than the arm that came on the jeep motor. I started with a cardboard template, made sure it didnt interfere with the wiper cowel. then i welded in a piece of 3/8" smooth rod, and used a cotter key to keep the arm in place.
Next I took off the old wiper selector, gutted it, made a bracket, attached the universal switch to it. I couldnt find a decent diagram online so I drew this up. It even pulses the wiper when you use the washer button:
Then i made a connection rod to connect the stock wiper arm to the universal switch. Here is a video i made explaining how I did it:

and here it is completed

I'm impressed. Great way to keep the original interior switch.

Well, that's pretty interesting. If you can upgrade it to accept a control switch with interval sweep, you could come up with a competitive application to the setup being marketed now. For those who would want to do that conversion, they would be glad to know there are two options to choose from.
I'm not one of those who would do that unless I'm forced to due to lack of stock components, but it is nice to see that what was deemed impossible just a few years ago is now possible.

you can easily make this intermittent by adding this to it: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hla-001871061TonyC wrote:Well, that's pretty interesting. Excellent. Great addition to the forum knowledge. Now I know what to do if my original fails.
