1966 ATC Issue
I just recently purchased a 1966 4dr Sedan and am currently trying to get the air conditioning working. It is equipped with the ATC system, my symptoms are as follows: The blower only works in the DeIce position. The shop manual calls for locating a disconnected vacuum hose from MCU to a tee near the steering column. Does anyone have a vacuum diagram or any experience with the same symptoms. Any help is appreciated.

Re: 1966 ATC Issue
The 1966 with automatic temperature control was faulty, and Ford provided a 1967 upgrade which eliminated the problem. The upgrade involves changing out the control box as well as several other components.
That being said, you should first look into vacuum related problems. Purchase the yellow colored vacuum system diagnosis guide (I think it is for 1967) This manual addresses all of the hose routing and symptoms.
I have gone through this before. Call me if you have questions.

Does anyone know how to remove the mcu itself. I only found two screws on the bottom which held it, I removed them but it did not budge. I couldn't see anything else holding it in place, any ideas

Re: 1966 ATC Issue
I don't remember what secures the brain at the top, either bolts or a lip. But I do remember something else: When you remove the brain, it will offer resistance due to the hoses that attach to it from the firewall end. Be careful when you pull it out.
