Ok, I am wondering where it asks to use Type A for power steering or transmission was that substituted by type F in the later years? What i'm asking is can I use Type F in a Type A situation???
I need to know for a '57 Premiere..

Re: Type A vs Type F??
I'd use type A which is available from Orielys on a special order.

Re: Type A vs Type F??
In general, I think its ok to use either Type A or Type F in a power steering system designed for either.
There's just too much debate and no consensus on what to use in transmissions. A small amount of mixing is ok in a transmission, but no one has ever mixed them on a bench in a jar to see if they mix well.
The basic difference is fiction modifier additives which a PS system would likely not be affected by.
