88-94 Continental

Postby CarCrashEngineer » Wed Mar 24, 2021 6:17 pm

We are a group of engineers that research car crashes. We are looking to inspect a vehicle to figure out how or why people were injured. Specifically, we need to take some photographs and measurements of a Lincoln Continental. It can be a 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, or 1994 model. Hoping to find one within about 2 hrs of Philadelphia, PA. We can come to you and only need to spend about 1-2 hrs with the vehicle.

If you have a continental and are willing to help us out, please send me a message or reply to this thread and we can discuss additional details. Thank you!

That would be an eighth gen Continental. Some one might have one.

However it wasn't that popular of a vehicle. It was a mid-sized Lincoln which was over shadowed by the full sized Lincoln Town Car.
In addition the Mark series was a hot seller in those years.

That Continental was the first ever front wheel drive Lincoln and the first Lincoln since roughly WWII that did not have a V-8.

Good luck finding one. It isn't going to be easy.

Probably easier to find one in a junkyard than one that is running. I would search the pick-a-part yards.

Actually, the 1988-94 Continental sold fairly well during its run. Although it didn't sell nearly as well as the Town Car, it sold far better than the 1982-87 Continental it replaced (which was RWD and offered with V8) and the Continentals that followed. It also far outsold the Mark series (which you referred to as a "hot seller in those years") offered during the same time. The 1988-94 Continental was EPA classified as a large car, not midsize. The 1982-87 Continental was classified as midsize.
