I have uploaded a bunch of Lincolns as avatars. Go to your profile and click on "Show Gallery".

Dan, are avatars and signature pictures allowed at the same time?

Yes, but both must adhere to their respective rules.linc64 wrote:Dan, are avatars and signature pictures allowed at the same time?

Dial up?
What percentage of the people still use dial up? If I had to use dial up, I would pour gasoline on myself and light a match. If it is a high percentage, I can understand why one would limit pictures-but I like the pictures-the more the better. And to limit them to Lincolns or Continentals; well, a poster might have a picture other than those that could be of interest so why restrict them?

Actually, dial-up is just one reason to limit inline and signature picture size. Another is that the bandwidth actually comes from our server and does affect performance. The other has to do with the presentation of the users and the forum.
If signatures are allowed to be too big, then the signature appears to be the significant contribution rather then the response to the post. The threads look like crap.
If inline pics are too big, then you have to scroll horizontally to see the other forum buttons, etc. Again, the thread looks like crap.
We are all mature people, right? Rules help keep society from becoming a free-for all. The rules are resonable and nothing says you can't LINK externally to anything bigger. It's all about balance.
I am impressed with the members' use of Lincoln-only avatars. They make the forum look dignified, not like we are a bunch of 12 year-olds (which we are not).

I've noticed some avatars recently that aren't Lincoln related. Are they officially allowed?Dan Szwarc wrote:I am impressed with the members' use of Lincoln-only avatars. They make the forum look dignified, not like we are a bunch of 12 year-olds (which we are not).

I haven't had the motivation to officially enforce the rules. It hasn't gotten out of hand so I'm not bothering.
