What Shocks are the Bagged Cars Running?

This area is for those who need help modernizing their Lincoln for purposes other than strict restoration. Such questions can be about adding an electric fuel pump, adding fuel injection, boosting horsepower or gas mileage, or tightening or lowering the suspension. Body customizing and chopping can also be here (although this practice is not encouraged by the LCOC).

What Shocks are the Bagged Cars Running?

Post by syfe1 »

I have been putting around this site for about a month now. I just finished bagging my 1964 Sedan. Its tunneled, 2600's in the rear, and air house 2's in the front.

I want to run shocks for the front, and replace the rears. I have a couple of questions for all you Bagged guys..

1. What front shock mount are you guys running. I saw a youtube where they relocated the shock to the front side of the car, and he used rivet nuts to put it in... I don't mind welding, but I just want to see what everyone else is using.

2. What shocks are you guys running? I read in a post that some are running Monroe 5839's in the rear... I believe that they fit a 1967 Thunderbird.

Any info would be helpful. This is my first Slab, and I think its a great car... definitely a unique car... but I am realizing that the parts are a little scarce, and you really have to hunt for information. Thanks in advance... looking forward to seeing what you guys are running!

I used these for the front https://www.ebay.com/itm/58-70-Impala-F ... 0005.m1851 They were easy to install, i dunno what brand the shocks are but they ride good enough for me.

Nice Flatblacklincoln! Thanks for the link! Did you weld those brackets at all? Or just bolt it up?

I got the idea from Burnski while I was lurking on here... http://www.thelincolnforum.net/phpbb3/v ... ks#p385802 I did the bolts like he did, you could weld them on if ya wanted...

61-63 uses different rear shocks than the 64+. Here is what im using on my 64.

front shock mounts: https://www.ebay.com/itm/183006913332
Front shocks: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0012WTZ38/

Just need to slightly modify the front bracket, cut off the bottom tab, and add a slight curve:

Rear shocks: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B000COSBIW/

they fit in the stock location on a 64+, and are just 1.5" shorter
