New To the Forum

This area is for those who need help modernizing their Lincoln for purposes other than strict restoration. Such questions can be about adding an electric fuel pump, adding fuel injection, boosting horsepower or gas mileage, or tightening or lowering the suspension. Body customizing and chopping can also be here (although this practice is not encouraged by the LCOC).

New To the Forum

Post by Grantillac »

Hello Lincoln lovers, My Name is Grant. I am 38 and live in Ohio. I have been lurking on this Forum for a couple of years and have just now joined. I have a 1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V. Dark Turquoise Met. My Mark V has just over 34,000 miles. The original owner kept it until a few years ago. My car is from Mt. Clemens Michigan. Then it jumped around to a few dealer/flippers until I bought it this year in July from a dealer in Mansfield Ohio. I have wanted a Mark V for about 20 years I have always just loved the style and size. I do not like to keep my cars stock but I won't change things that can't be put back. So Far I detailed it, put on a new dual exhaust with glass packs, lowered it and put on new tires and wheels. I can't wait until spring when I can get it out of storage and get back to work on it. Here are some pictures. The first one is from on my drive home when I bought it.
Cheers!
Grant

Welcome to the forum, Grant. Nice ride, great color ! Not sure I like the shoes. Prefer originals but definitely is a great find.

That's one stellar Mark! I notice the 1st photo has fancy striping at the door handle, but other pics do not. Was this removed? I kinda liked the look of it. Would love to see some interior pix!
BTW- add yourself to the member map, in the sticky section. Welcome!!

Beautiful car, and I love the wheels and white walls. What are the specs on the wheels?

Welcome to the forum, Grant.

Like the color, and good luck with the car. And remember, cars are like wives; you married her, you gotta like her!

Thank you all for the nice comments. Yes the pinstripe was painted on and I was able to clean it off with lots of work. Then it was too plain but the gold/yellow was too much so I used a green stripe tape I found on ebay. It is lowered around 1.5 inches and the wheels are 18x8 and 18x9 with 0 offset. Here are some inside pictures.

Luxury group interior. Very nice. Looks way better than the standard interiors on these, in my opinion .

Always amazing what a little lower and wheels and tires can do. Nice looking mods.
