1970's Convertibles

Any Lincoln fact related question can be posted here. Questions such as how many Contintenal convertibles were produced in MY1965? How much was the Town Car option in 1969? What size of tire was standard on a 1953 Premiere? or Does the Mark II retractible prototype still exist?

1970's Convertibles

Post by coffin123 »

Does anyone have info on the custom convertibles made after 1967? I just purchased a 1978 Triple Black Town Coupe convertible with only 14,450 documented miles on it since new. I've seen a few on ebay but usually they are built on the Mk bodies not the Town Coupe models. I've never seen another Town Coupe Convertible from '78 just a '71 and a '79 so I assume there is not a lot out there. The conversion on my car is excellent with no indication it wasn't built as a convertible from the factory but I know Ford stopped convertible production after 1967. I'd love to know more about the history of these custom convertibles so tell me what you know.

The conversion looks like it was done by Silco.

If you search Perry Bush or AussieMarkV on this forum I think you will find what you are looking for.

Looks like a very nice addition to the collection.

Maybe it's a conversion by Andy Hotton Associates (AHA) who converted standard Lincoln bodies to convertibles and station wagons from 1971 to 1979.

Maybe it's a conversion by Andy Hotton Associates (AHA) who converted standard Lincoln bodies to convertibles and station wagons from 1971 to 1979. They also made limos as well and other professional vehicles.

All the paperwork it came with I'm going to double check and see if there is any documentation to read thru about the conversion. Will there be any stamps or tags that I need to look for that might reveal the creator?
