1979 Mark V Cartier in black?

Any Lincoln fact related question can be posted here. Questions such as how many Contintenal convertibles were produced in MY1965? How much was the Town Car option in 1969? What size of tire was standard on a 1953 Premiere? or Does the Mark II retractible prototype still exist?

1979 Mark V Cartier in black?

Post by JonW »

I found this Mark V listed for sale and listed as a Cartier. Everything I've found shows that the '79 Cartier was Light Champagne. Is this the real deal?

No, and it also has incorrect wheels. That is a standard model with the carriage roof option.

It's been covered here a million times, but low-information sellers see Cartier on the clock and assume that makes the car a Cartier edition. All Lincolns came with Cartier clocks during this period. You are correct that in '79 the Cartier was light champagne only.

I suspected that but wanted to make sure. I emailed the seller, and you are correct. He believed that since the car had a Cartier clock that it was a Cartier edition.
