lighted driver mirror on 79 collector series sedan optional?

Any Lincoln fact related question can be posted here. Questions such as how many Contintenal convertibles were produced in MY1965? How much was the Town Car option in 1969? What size of tire was standard on a 1953 Premiere? or Does the Mark II retractible prototype still exist?

Kip,

Mine stickered at $23,819 (including $224 for delivery and $200 for undercoating), with everything but Sure-Track, trailer tow package, engine block heater and higher rear axle. These would have added $489.00, so it looks like the max was around $24,300, give or take.

Wow, so with all the dealer add on crap it should have been just over 25k! I think my uncles 78 wedgewood blue Mark V was 18k. I remember that number always being tossed around when that car was discussed in the family. We all thought that was unheard of! My Mom had a crappy 79 Fairmont Futura and it was only around 4 or 5k and for a Fairmont it was loaded!! She still talks about that old Fairmont and wishes she had it back. Go figure! I wish I could find one just like it and surprise her with it. They are not easy to find though. Hers was silver with a silver vinyl top and red interior with red pinstripping. She had the wire wheels, bumper guards, bucket seats and the upgraded steering wheel. I think even ac was optional on that car. I do remember that it had every option at the time that you could get. I never saw another Fairmont that was that loaded. I have many fond memories of slapping my little sister in the back of her head in that car! :D

What year was the first Power mirror with the C' and F' read-out for the thermometer , I just bought one that he said came off a Mark V but it is different than what is on my 1979 CS., and it is power not cable operated.

FK,

Sorry for the delay, I didn't see your post. My collector's has about every option (lighted thermom., moon roof, CB, lower body protect., traction loc) and the sticker was $23,619. Up there!

Mine has all the options also, I found a mirror that was supposed to be off of a Mark V but it is electric control ( instead of cable ) and the thermometer has the C. and F. scale on it and I was wondering what year the first one like this was.The original bill of sale on mine was over 24,000

dcm,

I think the first power mirrors were on the '80. I'll check tonight, but if I don't modify this post, go with '80. Certainly not the '79, which had the manual remote adjustments for the outside mirrors.

Too bad no such thing existed back in the '60s; but Frankenstein has the visor option at least--very rare indeed for a '60s model.

Here's the proof:

This thread is about the driver side outside rear view mirror with illuminated thermometer. Not sun visor illuminated vanity mirrors.
