Re: Continental conversion!......Sinatra salvation?
The saga goes on.... It has gone slower than I hoped but better than I imagined. The expensive and hard part seems to be coming up but it's also getting real exciting. Check out the progress.continentalguy wrote:So how is the restoration going on the Sinatra car any pictures?

Re: Continental conversion!......Sinatra salvation?
I spoke to the guy that wrote the article about Sinatra's cars. He stated that they used the cars that were available to them at the time and not necessarily the actual Sinatra cars. He referred me to a couple of people connected with the story as well Sinatra seemed to like all kinds of cars though he stated that he only wore black or dark blue at night so it stands to reason that he would have a black car for going out at night.fkhill wrote:That is going to be a great car. Does anyone know if he always drove Lincolns? Any other Sinatra Lincolns out there? I wonder what his last car was?

Re: Continental conversion!......Sinatra salvation?
Thanks so much for the support ... It really helps me keep the wheels turning. I'm hoping that this car will make some noise at on the car scene and be able to the Mark II that next push to continue the price momentum that we have seen in recent years. Mark II's deserve an equal place at the table next to the truely great cars of the 50's.continentalguy wrote:Man Khurt you are doing a great job! Re: Hazard a guess?
Barry....... I saw a picture of comedian Jerry Lewis taken in 1955 leaning against the back of a black Mark II. The car had a 1955 Illinois license plate and was in a photography book that is an exhibit of Sammy Davis Jr.'s pictures taken throughout his life. I'm wondering if you or anybody knows whether Jerry Lewis was a Mark II owner. If he was not then it might be a picture of the car that you were referring to in your earlier post whibh might have been bought by Sinatra for Davis.barry2952 wrote:...... if you can prove a rumor about Sammy Davis Jr. getting his Mark II through Sinatra and this proves to be the car, then you have a piece of history on your hands......KhurtG wrote:
Would you know if the car and or registration are traceable for that car. The plate is clearly visible. I was going to buy the book but it was $50.00 so I wanted to wait and see if it is worth it.
Thanks, KhurtG

Re: Continental conversion!......Sinatra salvation?
Can't tell anything by the plate number if you're trying to trace it in Illinois, I tried. It was a waste of $5 as their records only go back 10 years.
I'd try contacting Jerry Lewis to get the scoop on the car.

Do you know if Sinatra, Davis, or Lewis were ever members of The LCOC?

Re: Continental conversion!......Sinatra salvation?
I'm glad you decided to keep the car, and do the restoration. Someone asked about Frank & Lincolns in another thread, and I posted about the car earlier. Good luck!
661 - do you live in/near Santa Clarita? The great John Palladino who recorded lots of Sinatra's music while Frank was with Capitol, lives there. Wonderful man - 87 years old! I've become friendly with him over the phone, cards, etc. Hopefully I'll be able to make a trip out there some day...KhurtG wrote: Any time you are in the Los Angeles area feel free to call and we can run up to see the car..... 661/476-0965.
