Vacuum source for Heat Riser valve in snorkel, 69 460?

Post by MFE »

Hi,

I just realized that there is no vacuum line connected to the diverter valve in the air cleaner snorkel of my '69 Continental with a 460. What should it be using as a vacuum source? The car has an Edelbrock 1406 if it matters. Thanks!

The purpose of the door in the air cleaner is to take in heated air from the stove on the exhaust manifold when cold and fresh air from the end of the air cleaner when the engine is warmed up.

The vacuum motor in the air cleaner is powered by intake manifold vacuum via a PVS. (Ported Vacuum Switch)
The PVS threaded into the intake manifold in a coolant passage, opens when a specific temp is reached.

The routing would be
intake manifold to PVS
PVS to air cleaner door motor

There are variations to the above routing. Consult the shop manual or engine vacuum routing to confirm.

Ahh, OK thanks. Now I know what that thing in the intake is with all the ports open, nothing attached to them LOL.
