If it is leaking, those are classic symptoms for EGR that is open or partially open during lower engine RPMs.

I took the canister off and it seemed to be pushed against the housing, however, it did appear to have carbon build up on both sides, so I might wait for the new one to arrive before trying to tune around the surging and just focus on the hesitation for now. I turned the idles out another 1/2 turn. So if the hesitation is still there, I’ll change the pump stroke

Still waiting on Egr valve, but did some playing around with choke and fast idle. Starts right up with one pump and idles at 1200 rpm ( not sure if this is correct) and very smooth.

The idle may be a bit high.

There should be an orange or white sticker on the valve cover with that data and what needs to be on when setting curb idle speed.

And it sounds like you are getting it dialed in. Or maybe the mouser is doing the hard lifting.

Definitely the mouser.

I adjusted the pump stroke to the last hole available, because it still has a slight annoying stumble, dieseling is gone atm

Well, hesitation is gone
Action was on top of it from the very beginning! Thank you for muddling through with me!

I’m still gonna replace egr and fiddle with fast idle (spec. Is 2200rpm)
But at least now I know it’s possible to run ok, and that’s what’s always hung me up on this car, suspicion that it’s trash.
