Anyone Have Tool T67P-7341-A?

Post by blkmk69 »

Hi,

Would like to drop the trans on the MK III and was wondering if anyone can loan out tool T67P-7341A? According to Chilton's, it is needed to separate the selector rod from the manual shift lever.

Thanks for any response.

I would have to look and I think that tool is used to protect the shift shaft seal or to protect a grommet for the shift linkage.

Assuming this is the first time the transmission has been removed in 50 years, or even 20 years, I would replace all seals and grommets. They are made of plastic and/or rubber. At this age anything made of plastic or rubber should be retired.

And it is listed for sale on ebay

A lil steep in price IMO for a single use.

Thank you for the response, was thinking that its needed in order to avoid damaging a grommet while taking the linkage apart and for reassemblying?. Was hoping to avoid buying a one-time use tool.

50 year old grommets may be damaged because they are … well … 50 years old.
