Yes, I did, actually. They are still available new to this day. Trying to find one that doesn’t have goofy integrated handles and odd case shapes can be a little tricky, though. I went to local Batteries Plus store to get this Duracell brand battery. Had two options for 27F. I spent an extra $15 and got the nicer one.

Good to know. Im still fixing my car up so Im not at that point to get a new battery for it yet but when I do at least I know if a store says it's not available to keep looking.
Yeah so many variations for how they look. I usually don't mind the built in handles because so cars it can be tight to get the battery in and out but even without the dress up it they look out of places in these older cars.

Since my car did not come with a hold down and originals appear to be made of unobtanium, I had to find a common one and make it work. Saw references in previous posts about 1990 Town Car. Unfortunately, had none of those in the yard close to me. What I did find is a bracket from 99-00 Crown Vic/Grand Marq (and probably other years). Assume Town Car maybe the same. Two modifications to make it work. One, had to cut 3/4” out of the middle of the spine and weld it back together and the end that attaches to the fender was flat so I had to bend it in the vice to match the angle of tab on the fender. Re-used the long J-bolt from the Grand Marq, as well. Just had to cut a small piece off the hook end to make the J smaller. Not show correct, but passes for a reasonable alternative and at least my battery no longer bounces around. Probably need to coat it with rubber to make it look a little more authentic since the prep work before the PC wasn't great.

A loose battery is not healthy for the battery.
Shakes the plates and eventually crakes and breaks them

Anything holding down the battery case is better than nothing

I have a metal hold down on my 66
I think by 70 they were plastic.

Some aftermarket hold downs have the OEMish look too. Too bad it can't be centered on the battery to avoid being near the caps.

Official batteries are a waste of money for a lousy 1/2 to1 points at an LCOC show.

Per the authenticity manual, this battery is actually incorrect for 1967 and later. Supposedly 1967 and later do not have a case with molded names. It was apparently a flat, generic battery case with stickers. Easy enough and cheaper alternative for 67 and later owners.
