I'm not certain, but I think that most older cars should use a 180 degree thermostat. The 195 degree thermostats started to become more common as emissions requirements became stricter. The miles to empty system also includes a speed sensor that is mounted in series with the speedo cable. At the least this would need to be installed, which probably also means a different speedo cable, but if you find one, you can probably find the other so this shouldn't be a problem. I'm guessing ...

OK, this is a crude way to check, but you can buy a simple gauge at most auto parts stores to take a pressure reading. It looks somewhat like a tire gauge.
