Re: Temp Gauge

You are right, Lee, with the fuel gauge working, the CV gizmo is irrelevant. Anybody remember what the CV gizmo is called? Wayne

Re: Second opinion. 462 rebuild?

When we replaced the head gaskets on my 430, we kept the 61 manual and the 63 supplement handy by. I can't remember if we actually needed the 63 supplement or not. I think we got by with the 61 book. Still, a lot of wrenching, but in those days the only labor cost was beer. Wayne

Re: Discouraging Air Filter Finding

I've missed it too, I guess. We all tend to believe that if the label says it is for our cars, we can trust it. I suppose we should know better. That's why we have this forum to share what we've learned. Who looks under their air filter? Wayne

I don't think Mr. Mill Hill is coming back. Or have we already told him everything he needs to know? There is a fellow somewhere who will shine and straighten these because he did one of my front ones. It came out grand. Wayne

Re: Temp Gauge

Check the constant voltage gizmo in your dash behind the clock? If you've got a 63. Wayne

Re: DIY rust prevention: tips on problem areas & products to use

It was good to see ReijerLincoln and autostick, brought up from the distant past. At first, I didn't see the dates, and I thought I was actually hearing from them. I think fluid film is the stuff to use these days, but it makes the garage floor slippery. I got some used oil and put it in a lawn spra...

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal

Nice pictures...what year is your car? It kinda looks like a 63 (my year) I am slowly getting used to folks who don't care one whit for authenticity. In my old age I'm starting to get that way myself. I've already made some changes that aren't terribly visible, but next, if I don't sell the car firs...

Re: 1965 - Leftover part - Any ideas?

If it is a window stop, consider that someone may have been there before you. This is almost always true, especially with cars this old. That part might have been just the right thing to hold this or that thing in that or this place, for this moment or forever. The human mind is always ready to inve...

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal

Jim: I think it was also Todd Allen who invented the thread of putting 63 hubcaps on 15" Wheels. I followed those instructions to the T and no judge has ever questioned them. I think the judges must just look down and see the 63 hubcaps, which is all they look for. Wayne

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal

I say stick liability where the sun doesn't shine. If you think those parts from D Carpenter will fit, get 'em and put 'em on. I can't imagine that they cost that much. And you can always sell them to some Ford group that will use them to replace the bare foot pedals that once seemed so popular...or...

Re: Permanent 64 top removal

I'm sorry, too, Tom. You speak the truth. None of us knows what's going to happen tomorrow. Personally, I'm glad there are lots of kinds of chemo, and I'll be sincerely hoping and praying that the chemo has worked for you and that eventually you'll be back on your feet, literally. deciding to sell a...

Re: 1962 Peak Trim

I've got a fair amount of 63 peak trim. It is worn, but I don't think dented or bent, just mostly not pretty. I'm in Maine if you are nearby. I don't have any of the curved pieces, just the flat ones. You can have them for a donation to the forum and postage. Wayne

Re: 1966 Front Shock Absorbers

Thanks again, Dan. Stu looks here too, and he also has a 63 sedan, and he may look under his hood and may report what he sees. Sometimes LCOC judges ding stuff just because they can. When I hid my 15" wheels behind '63 wheel covers, nobody noticed. (I learned that trick here on this forum). Whe...

Re: 1966 Front Shock Absorbers

Thanks, Dan, computers and I don't really have a relationship. So, Ebay and I are not intimates. Would you believe that I heard about this forum from a fellow Lincoln owner back in 2009 when I joined, but the Episcopal priest across the street a bit, actually came to my computer, found the forum and...
