I would not be concerned about odometer tampering. Also I am not sure that what you are feeling is an actual "quick shift". From what you describe it sounds to me like you are feeling the normal 2-3 shift immediatly followed by torque converter lockup which can give the sensation that the ...

I have heard quite a bit of talk about 4.6L engines burning oil due to poor valve stem seals. While I have not seen them all, I think I probably HAVE seen at least more than most here by far. It has not been my experience that the valve stem seal issue holds water. Of the many customers cars with th...

You DON"T need springs unless !! they sag noticably and are weak (meaning they can no longer maintain the ride height at it's proper level). The quality or smoothness of the ride is nearly all a function of the shocks. Now before the flames come on I am aware that stiffer spring rates will stif...

Yes Both are gas charged. The F7AZ-18125-JA number is the part which superceded the XW1Z-18125-AA. But the valving in the F7AZ's is MUCH MUCH stiffer whereas the XW1Z's provide much less rebound damping. Both seem to have approx the same resistance to jounce but the F7AZ is approx. 3 to 4x stronger ...

Shocks Installed !! Part Number XW1Z-18125-AA or AS-1093-G and the ride is FANTASTIC !!!! My 95 Town Car has been restored to its plush cushy ride that I SO MUCH enjoy!! Just the right balance of jounce and rebound damping to allow the Air Suspension to do it's job. I'm now laughing at Expansion joi...

I had thought about adjustables, but much prefer the damping properties of the OEM units that the cars came with when new. And OEM "if" I was able to find the original units would/should yield the desired results while adjustables are a wildcard. Have you tried some adjustables in the past...

Well I wish I could give you the ones I have installed. They are Excellent at damping movement "over everything" because they don't allow any !! Dips , bumps etc feel as if there is no suspension at all !! I did manage to pull in a few left over "Ford" favors and located some of ...

The rear suspension on a Mark8 is totally different. It is independant The Town Car has a multilink "live" solid axle. The shocks could? be similar but I doubt interchangeable. I WOULD however be interested in what your solution was and what brand of shock etc. you used, and if you are sat...

Replacement Shocks 90+ Town Car??

Anyone out there had any luck replacing the shocks on their 1990+ Town Car with something that does not kill the ride charicteristics of the car?? The units now available from Ford # F7AZ-18125-JA are FAR TOO STIFF and work poorly with the self leveling air suspension which Town Cars all have. It ma...

Or perhaps you would need the contents of an entire "mint" to purchase the thing.

Good point Dan, and yes that car does have a IAC valve on it which could also be the cause.

I would agree 100%! They are certainly the most elegant Luxury car of their era, and perhaps even until this day in time. The '58-'60 Lincoln had so many innovations incorporated into them they defined the Luxury car for the next 20 years. The interiors were/are something to behold, especially when...

Why all the fuss. It is perfectly clear that there MUST have been an oversight!! EVERYONE knows that the 58-60 Lincoln models were the pinnacle of automotive design and surely should top ANY list!!

The flamethrowers I have seen amount to a spark plug installed in the exhaust pipes near the outlet "rear of car" Those I have seen work by employing an ignition kill which allows unburnt fuel air mixture to be pumped out the exhaust pipes and then ignited by the spark plug/s in the exhaus...
