Re: 1986 Town Car Calipers

Thanks both Dans,

From the info by Dan B I will go with the steel.

P.S I used to live in Ferndale MI just north of Detroit, now living in Beverly Hills MI 5 miles north of Detroit. Still a long way from the other two.

1986 Town Car Calipers

Need new calipers. O'Reillys - Phenolic piston $21.00 lifetime warranty plus $5.00 core charge. Steel $26.00 lifetime warranty no core charge. Price difference is not the issue. Anyone have any experience with either? The shop manual indicates Phenolic piston. Thanks for any assistance Tony Maria

Re: 1965 Convertible top with an extra support bar?

Robert,

That brace was suggested by John Cashman. It prevented the top mechanism from twisting. I put one on my 65. The 66 and 67 have factory installed brace. Reinstall when you are finished.

Re: Hydraulic Hoses Leaking 63 LCC

I had a similar problem in 2009. I ordered a complete set for my 65. One of the lines was not an exact duplicate, similar to what you are saying. Hydro tried to be very helpful but they could not understand the problem. They kept saying that John Cashman uses them and he says they are correct. I do ...

Re: Question about the first day of 1967 production.

Unfortunatley no. I did go with him a few times when the factory was operating while he was working and after he retired. I also took my 65 convertible there for open houses in 2003,2004, and just before closing in 2007. We displayed the cars in the factory and in 2007 my car was on the end of the a...

Re: Question about the first day of 1967 production.

Bill, My father worked at the Wixom plant from May 1957 to January 1969. In 1966 I remember he worked from the beginning of production until Thanksgiving day 12 hours a day 7 days a week. He used to say he worked over 100 days straight. Thanksgiving day that year was Nov 24. So going backwards that ...

Re: I have a special treat for 80-88 Lincoln owners

I found a 91 Grand Marquis at the junk yard. The trans pan said Metric. The Valve Body Part # is RF E9AP 7A092AA. Will this work?

Thanks

Re: Will any proportioning valve work? 1965

I finished the job. Installed new rotors, callipers, pads, hoses front and rear, master cylinder, rear wheel cylinders, and the combo valve. It is not adjustable. The car stops fine.

Re: Will any proportioning valve work? 1965

I just bought a combination metering/proportioning valve from Lincoln Land. $145.00. I am on the final stage of replacing the whole system. The combo valve may also be available from NPD. It looks the same. More information when I finish and STOP!!!

Re: 65 window motors

66 motors will not work in a 65 as is. 65 motors are 1 year only (possible for 64) They may be able to be reconfigured. John Cashman will know for sure.

Re: Fuel Pump Pushrod

You said you installed a new pus rod without a bronze tip. Did you install a new concentric? This is under the timing cover and the push rod rides on it. Bakers sells the kit FPPK61 "KIT, Fuel Pump Pushrod Conversion 61 62 63*, Avoid apor lock by upgrading your 1961-63 fuel pump pushrod" 1...

Re: Brake parts -- save some green

I am looking at the 65 Parts manual for the front disc brakes. It shows two part #'s B7C 1202-A Cup(Front Wheel Bearing) Inner 2-9/16" O.D. and LF 1217-A CUP (FRONT etc.. ) Outer. This is not to be confused with the seal on the inner hub of the rotor. Are these available locally? Is there a par...

Re: Brake parts -- save some green

The story continues. The old house has a brass block on the end. This attaches to the bracket between the bolts holding the caliper on. From this brass block a 3/16 line comes out and connects to the caliper. Next to this hole on the caliper is another holes that is for the transfer line, from one s...
