Re: Lower Alternator Shield 66-69

Dan,

I wasn't reading the posts as close as I should have. I was referring to the alternator splash shield. I don't know about the other part.

Re: Lower Alternator Shield 66-69

Dan,

I have one in place on my 65. It has been there since I bought the car over 19 years ago. I think I have seen a picture of it in the parts manual and it is referred to quite a bit in the shop manual.

Re: 1966/67 Front Brake Rotors Dimension

The minimum thickness has been in the Baker's parts catalogs before they got fancy. I will look through my files tonight.

Re: Photographic reminder to replace your timing set

I purchased an oil pump and shaft from Precision for my 65 430. The pump came with a FE-Ford High Pressure Kit. It is a disc or thay call it a shim, and a new plug. The instructions say that with this kit in place, a 10-15 PSI gain should be made, but may vary from engine to engine. Has anybody inst...

Re: coolant overflow tank

I had one of the universal recovery tanks and it worked very well. I put it next to the battery. When I got a larger battery the hood hinges crushed it. I tried to look for a convenient place to put it but couldn't. I looked over at my shelf of oil and spotted a black 1 qt bottle. I tried finding a ...

Re: Harmonic balancer removal

Don't be sorry, it's not a stupid question. Especially since I asked the same question 4 years ago. Use a box wrench and hit the end with a fast tap of a good size hammer. Then you must use a Harmonic balancer remover to remove and replace the balancer. Do not try to use the bolt to get the balancer...

If that is a 65, there are 5 to 7 screws that need to be take out. Drop your wind as low as it can go and you should see them. You may be able to take them out without going into the door panel and dropping the window.

I think I am the kindly gent that Willard is referring to. I posted this in July 2002. Tony Maria I changed the rag joint/flexible coupling on my 65 convertible last week. You do not need to pull out the whole steering column. You do need to pull out the steering shaft 3 or 4 inches. You will need a...

One way to tell if is original or not is to look at the plastic window on the bottom drivers side. It should have a date, middle 61 to middle 62. I hade the original top on my early 65 and it had a date of 7/64.
