Re: New 62 Conti owner in Calabasas, CA - needs a local shop

I have used a shop called Automotive Classics in Canoga Park but it has been several years since I've been there. They seem to work more on newer cars now but they still have the same name so I assume they still work on older cars too. When I was looking around I was surprised how many shops really ...

Re: GENTLEMEN- YOUR NEW LINCOLN CONTINENTAL

Here is the grill on the Mark X concept. Looks like Ford is auctioning many of the recent Lincoln concept vehicles

Re: GENTLEMEN- YOUR NEW LINCOLN CONTINENTAL

Gosh, a Ford Edge with a chrome plated plastic grill... That will for sure turn the company around A rebadged Edge?? Blasphemy. That there is a rebadged Ford Flex........with a chrome plated platic grill. The best part is that a loaded Flex is more expensive then an MKX basically making the Lincoln...

Re: Modern engines in the slabsides

That being said, I was amazed recently when I saw a commercial for the new Mustang, with a V6 that delivers 305HP. I can't recall the torque numbers for this engine (anyone know?) But this might be an interesting swap to consider. The new V6 Mustang's torque is rated at 280, but a better idea would...

Re: Gas Cap, a couple things

Based on your symptoms most would say vapor lock and blame the fuel pump (either worn or the wrong 2 port). Makes me wonder if some of the problems diagnosed as the fuel pump are actually the result of faulty gas caps not venting properly?

Re: The Town Car - To Be Retired in 2011

This article seems to perpetuate a few of the myths surrounding the Towncar and Crown Vic. Livery companies and police agencies try to say customers like them because of the roomy back seat and large trunk which they like to say is so much bigger than a Prius or Escape, which it is, of course, but i...

Re: the things you dont see when you drive

Very entertaining. Atually would be a good tool to use to diagnose problems. Your bushings all look new but it would be interesting to see this on a car with worn bushings. You would actually be able to see what all those clunking noises look like.

Re: Fond Farewell to the Sign of Mercury

Mercury had a nice market between Ford and Lincoln for a long time. The problem is that Fords are nicer than they used to be and Lincoln has move down-market so they've basically squeezed Mercury out of existence. I think they only reason it's still around is to keep enough volume moving through Lin...

Re: The Town Car - To Be Retired in 2011

I'd bet it would be minimal work to get the 5.0 in the Towncar (and Crown Vic). They can detune it to get better gas milage, run on regular, and still produce more than 300hp (still would be a huge jump from today's 240hp). Prob get another 5 years out of this relic. How about a Marauder putting out...

Re: Rant: What part of "Best Offer" don't people understand?

Dan, I have to admit that I use that line all the time and I'm not the dumb*ss, sometimes the seller is. I usually start with some small talk, asking if they've had a lot of interest or offers on the item and then ask what's the lowest price they have in mind if I were to buy it TODAY. Some people a...

Just looked up the ad for this car. This guy is dreaming, he would be lucky to get a quarter of his asking price. Maybe he has more dollars than sense

Re: Triple white 1962 convert

As a general rule, I'd think twice about buying a Lincoln through a dealer. It is nearly impossible to restore one of these cars and still be able to sell it for a profit. In order to make money they will usually have to cut corners somewhere, usually a quickie paint job, vinyl interior, fix as litt...

Re: George Barris Continental

It's clearly got the Landau bars, which I don't think look good on any car. Never understood what they were supposed to be there for?
It seems like the roof is kinda sitting on top of the car, above the windsheield. Maybe it's just the contrasting color that makes it look taller than normal.

George Barris Continental

The first 90 secs or so shows pictures of George Barris next to (his?) MKII, looks like a convertible from the front, not from the sides unless it's some sort of removable hardtop. Anybody know anything about the car? Looks very subtle for Barris. [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yu91BcWQRnA[...

Re: modern Lincoln with suicide doors???

I agree with Dan in theory but most people find it awkward getting in to and out of suicide doors. Access is more direct but you have have to do a weird twist at the end. With regular doors you are already facing forward and just have to slide into the back seat. Plus you have the door for support. ...
