Carbs needs to be adjusted for cold weather. Usually you only need to adjust the automatic choke.
You’ll need to see if there are specific adjustments for your carb mentioned in the owners or service manuals.
Edit: disregard, didn’t read that you had an ‘83.

Re: Engine motor oil for rebuilt '64 430 engine
I’m switching all my older motors to rotella diesel oil. I think it’s “t5”
Easy to find at any store, sold in bulk, has all the vitamins and minerals old engines need.
That’s after break-in of course. I use Lucas break-in oil for that.

Re: Struggling with rear leaf spring removal (61 sedan)
I put new springs on mine several years ago, and while I don't remember every detail, you definitely do not have to drop the tank. I believe you can remove the spring hangers with the shackles and springs attached if need be. You can do the same thing at the front...it may be easier to figure out w...

Re: Struggling with rear leaf spring removal (61 sedan)
You removed both bolts that run through the shackles and the leaf spring bushings? Typically on a leaf spring if you can't get the spring out with the bolt removed it's because the bushings have attached themselves to the shackles. You might just need to soak them with oil and disassemble the shack...

Struggling with rear leaf spring removal (61 sedan)
I’m following the factory service manual. The rear spring front bushing is stuck on something. It moves around but I can’t it it to pop out of the hanger. I’ve put a pry bar on it from different directions. Does the gas tank need to be dropped to get it off the rear shackle bolts? It doesn’t look li...

Re: 62 Sedan - knock and blowby
I personally would pull it and rebuild. No sense in doing another engine/trans swap to an uncommon and expensive engine when it’s already been switched out. While you’re in there, the c6 is stout but check for leaks. Mild “rv” cam the engine. exhaust headers if there’s clearance. Mini-starter. Gm 1-...

Re: Recentering brake differential/ proportioning valve
I’m planning to get this tool for my F250. Maybe it works on Lincolns:

Windshield gasket: steele vs Rubber the Right Way?
Hi, i''m starting to re-restore my '61 sedan and need to replace the windshield. The gasket will not survive.
Is the gasket situation any better than it used to be? I recall no one having anything decent and NOS was the way to go, but it looks like both RtRW and Steele have the parts now.

Re: Electric Lincoln concept: The Star
Converting to EV isn't for everyone, but it benefits everyone. Keep in mind that humans have spent decades figuring out how to deal with combustion engines, and only a few years figuring out EV. the California electrical shortage was mentioned, but don't forget that there's also been plenty of gas s...

Re: Should I become an auto technician?
If it were me I'd be concerned about how much less maintenance hybrids and electric vehicles need, and how that impacts the mechanic industry. Further, I don't know how i would be able to work if back issues started up.

Re: Limited slip options for a '61?
What are your tires like? If they're something special for old cars they usually aren't as good in the traction department as regular ones. If you need limited slip regularly and for a good part of that 3 miles it'll wear out prematurely. You'd be better off finding a newer axle to use that parts a...

Re: Limited slip options for a '61?
it sounds like the original limited slip diff is hard to source? Are there any successful axle swaps or recommendations? Maybe it would be easier to fab up a ford 9" than try and get the original Lincoln option working.

Re: New tank or retro fit with pump
Fitech also offers a surge tank setup in 3 sizes. I have the large, single pump on a 390FE and it works well. You keep your mechanical pump to fill the surge tank, and there's an EFI pump to supply high PSI fuel to the injectors. I have an in-line pump on my '61 linc that came with a F.A.S.T EFI mas...

Limited slip options for a '61?
I have a '61 that has a 3 mile journey to get to pavement regularlly. I really want to do something to get better traction. What options do I have and what's recommended?

Are you still working on this? While I'm not a SQL or forum specialist, i'm a sysadmin by trade for the past 10+ years and would be willing to help. Alternatively, migrating the forum to a different platform that's self-monetized and hosted might make sense. For instance the FordFE forums are on tap...
