Re: Brakes working crappy. Help.

The good thing about drums is that they were AOK before discs. We didn't know anything else. Same with three on the tree. Remember dropping the shifter a bit going from 1st to 2nd? Only rear wheel drive? Fuel injection, what was that? How about GPS? We still use maps to confirm the GPS, because of o...

Re: 62 Transmission - Broke Something

My doctor says when we get this old, we get worn out seals. I have to agree with him. I would never have guessed this when I was 35. Wayne

Has Booster Dewey left the building? I didn't know that. He rebuilt my booster years ago. Wayne

Re: 1971 C6 Transmission problems

I don't have a 71, but rather a 63, so I can't answer definitively. I can say though that having my trans rebuilt was cheaper and safer that simply sticking in another one. This was the first thing I did after buying the car in 1995. Wayne

Re: 65 Gas Tank Removal

I'm sorry, Lee, we should probably start a thread spelling out how we have been bitten by cars over the years, some of which were preventable, and some of which just happened! I'm guessing that the wrist watch thing required a doctor's attention? Maybe even the wedding ring? My wife would have faile...

Re: Accelerator (gas) pedal

I've used the near cat litter stuff, too, but can't remember what it is called. It comes in a bag; any parts store will have it: you may even find it at tractor supply. If I know when and where I'm going to drip oil, I put it down first. The click bait says to use baking soda, but if I took that out...

Re: 62 Transmission - Broke Something

The same event necessitated a trans rebuild on my 63coming home from a car show. It was the first thing to go wrong with it since brining it home. The good news is that repair stuck, and it happened back in '95. Wayne

From the Wayne's not Haynes manual: Disconnect negative battery cable. Insert tank, tighten fasteners. Wayne

Re: Where's the love for 1958-1960 Lincolns?

I understand the love that people have for these cars. I have seen and met the people at shows who own them. They are proud people, who deserve being called that, because their pride is real. I hang out with Zephyr, Capri, Mark IV and slabside people, and the Zephyr guy (my brother) is apt to say af...

Re: Post your best lincoln pic here.....

You've seen all of the old car places that I know of, Lee, except for one private collection in the southern part of the state. I haven't seen it, nor do I remember the name of the collection, but I have heard that it is very good. It may begin with "B". I suspect that we've both been to t...

Re: Post your best lincoln pic here.....

Hi Lee, have you ever been to the Seal Cove Auto Museum, very near Acadia National Park? They have the most amazing collection of one-off brass era cars. Many of them have a sign near them that says "This is the only known example". I was stunned. Nobody mentioned that there was a 1963 Lin...
