Re: Moon Finned Valve Covers !!!
These are catalog stock at Mooneyes now. That being said, you will still have to wait for them. You may be able to get a better deal if you get a group together, but they are 315 plus shipping as of this post (13 DEC 2018).

Re: So I bought an Electric Car...
I have to admit I am a bit jealous but more intrigued Dan! I have built a few "Voltswagens" and enjoyed them thoroughly but the range with the lead/acid batteries when I was young only worked out to about 30 miles with no heater, 20 with the heater (Washington State) - and of course no war...

Re: Rod inside the middle freeze plug drivers side
It's a core pin, All the MELs I've pulled apart have them. The engines that didn't have them I found rusty pieces in the bottom of the cooling jackets.

I cannot guarantee it but since the Mark and the Thunderbird were very similar it may use a Thunderbird latch... but I am not 100%sure.

Re: Where's the fuel pump rod hole to remove it?
1 49/64 is correct. All of the steel plugs like this on the MEL engines are 64th sizes a bit larger than the common fraction size.

Re: 462 pointed pushrod question
It is worn out. Notice also that the ball is smaller. Time for new pushrods and rocker arms. The point is from the oil hole in the socket of the rocker. MEL and FE engines do not oil the tips of the pushrods through the rocker like most engines but use a squirt of oil when the rocker passes a point ...

Re: 1970 Alternator Questions:
Just a note on the rebuilds too, it could be possible that the alternator you just removed was replaced with a 65A unit but the case is still marked with the factory markings. I know that when I was selling parts 20+ years ago that the markings on the case didn't mean anything after the rebuild. It ...

Re: Official 2017 Mileage Challenge Thread
Not going to win any mileage challenges - probably 150 miles so far this year. But ice cream, the parts store, the local ACE, burgers - and the DRIVE IN! ... stuff like that for sure. I drive Frankenstein every evening and out to work when we have an event (luckily working for a car company has some...

Re: Trunk seal issue, what to do?
How can a Lincoln specialty store sell the wrong trunk seal? That's what I wondered as well... when I got the part from B****S the package said 1961-1979. I know they went to a bulb seal in the late 60s but don't know exactly when. I pulled it back out and just ordered bulk using the profile of my ...

Re: Trunk seal issue, what to do?
I had a similar issue with the trunk seal on my '66, however the profile I received from the usual suspects was not the same as the factory profile. The replacement was a bulb shape while the factory seal was a lip seal. I bought a bulk length from Restoration Specialties in Pennsylvania, USA (they ...
