Re: Question regarding 1972 rebody Nixon/Reagan Continental
I saw this car about 10 years ago at the Henry Ford. I was surprised at how shabby they all were. Small dents, dings, paint chips. But, what is the deal with the suicide back doors? I couldn;t find anything out at the museum- does anyone know why this was done?

Re: '56 Convertible on "Highway Patrol"
BIG NEWS!!! I was just in a model train shop and advertised in a magazine (Model Railroad News) is a model of, you guessed it, a 1955 2 door Buick in 1/24th scale by Maisto, painted and decalled for the California Highway Patrol! The article talks about Crawford and HP. Just the thing for after Chri...

Re: Lincolns in the Movies
I just saw the 1985 film "Trouble in Mind" - there's a glimpse of a 61 convertible near the end. An awesome picture with Kris Kristofferson and as I understand it, the only movie were Divine isn't in drag!

Re: '56 Convertible on "Highway Patrol"
You see people do the "slide over" thing in lots of old movies. Maybe there were laws about it, but it sure looked like the custom of the time. I have two Citroen Traction Avants. One has the outside lock on the right front door, the other has it on the right front door too, but it's right...

Re: Australian Lincolns
I read someplace years ago an article about Australian-built Fords. It said as I recall, that late 60s full size models (Galaxies or the LTD) had the same dashboard as the 61-63 Lincolns. Is that true?

Re: Should I buy it?
thanks, I will check them out. I've had very good luck with Manny's on Dundas street. He did the leather seats in my 54 Citroen and did an outstanding job. Both front and back seats in Italian leather done exactly to original for $2,000.00! I still haven't heard about the Lincoln. Guess I better lig...

Re: lincoln limo
The king or whoever was in charge of Afghanistan before the Soviets came in had a large collection of classic cars. As far as I know, they were all destroyed when the Russians left and the Taliban took over. Yes, a 40 or 41 Continental, several Rolls-Royces and a bunch of others. Isn't the head nutb...

Re: '56 Convertible on "Highway Patrol"
I'm an old movie fanatic and I've noticed a few things in the film noir pictures I love. When people leave a car, they mostly slide over and get out on the passenger side. The sound of a six-volt car starting is distinctive, there's a THUNK, then it's running. 12 volt cars whine when they start, but...

Re: '56 Convertible on "Highway Patrol"
On one show I saw last year, he gets into a 55? Buick, starts it up, then slowly backs it out of the parking space, then puts it into drive and off he goes! Dynaflow! Watching a car back up sure made for exciting televison back in the day. They just don't do that sort of thing anymore.

Re: BIG PROBLEM
I had this problem 20 years ago when I had my other 62. I took it to an old-time locksmith-he went in with a tool similar to a dental pick and found that one of the lock plungers had stuck. A little poking with the tool and it was freed. He didn't even charge me.A little spry lube and I never had th...

Re: Should I buy it?
My friend has the man's name from the building super who will ask about the car. According to him he owns three convertibles that are in the garage, a 64 which is very rough, a 63 which I have not seen and the 62. He is going to approach the owner and see if he wants to sell. He says that he has had...
