Re: How bad is the 400 engine?
I have had a '78 and '79 with the 400, and a '76 with the 460. The 2 400's would not really win any drag races, but were both reliable, and both burned rubber. The 460 will not burn rubber, but is a little smoother. It also uses way more gas, runs hotter, and is more likely to overheat if temps are ...

All I am going to say is that they found the perfect setting for it in the first pic.

Re: Best 4 Doors
I was really surprised by this list. The Lincoln is the only decent one. I expected to see cars like the 1957-58 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham and 1948 Tucker. And 4 door hardtops are always cool, but the best example they could come up with is a Corvair?

Re: Will the Mark VIs eventually be 'treasured' ?
No, I do not ever think that the Mark VI will ever be as treasured as a '69 - '79 Mark. Despite the higher when new price, they were always seen as a cheap downsized copy of the Mark V. The same way a 1954 Chevy will never have the same appeal as a 1955-57 Chevy. They will go up in value as the more...

No, that is not rare. I will tell you what is rare. The Bliss Blass Edition. I have seen lots of Bill Blasses for sale, but only one Bliss Blass ever

Re: Well it's not a Lincoln, but ...
I was looking for a 1962 2 door Imperial before I got my Givenchy. Never found both decent condition and price though.
Price on this one seems a little high for needing complete reupholstery, paint, windshield, and other stuff to get it running.

Re: new T-shirts today only '65 sedan
Yeah, they had a Land Yacht shirt with a Mark V a couple of years ago. I really wanted that, and the guy told me he got it from Blipshift. So I subscribed, and each shirt seemed to get more and more stupid over the past few years. The '65 Lincoln was the first interesting one I have seen, but still ...

Re: Lincolns and typical value
Low mileage always commands a premium price, so while the Mark IV has that, the coupe with higher miles does not seem to warrant the high price. Personally I would rather avoid ones with low miles though. These cars do not like to sit, and end up needing lots of things once you start driving them. P...

Have you had any luck finding this part? I am wondering if this might be what is wrong with mine.

Re: Strange dying out
Well, here's a starting point. I'm not sure about any quirky differences in your year, but I'm thinking the placement was pretty close to universal with column mounts. The switch itself is down on the steering column, out of sight until you remove whatever lower-dash panels there are. Besides a wir...

Re: Post your custom, unusual, and freaky Lincolns here
It is obviously coachbuilt. Too bad you can't get a close up of the fender badge. Although the chrome tip on the tailpipe looks like a tacky afterthought.

Re: Strange dying out
Currently fighting something similar on another vehicle myself. Couple of questions... When she stalls, is it after a stop (shutoff, get out for a bit, return and go) or long idle (traffic, or similar). What I'm experiencing on the other vehicle is a heat soak/vapor lock type of situation, where I ...

Re: Strange dying out
I don't think you can afford not to. I think it took me 15-30m to swap it on my 77 Continental. The mark may be the same. Really? What is involved, and where did you get one? Its so easy, I'm not even going to describe it. I think I got it from RockAuto.com. Well good thing that isn't the issue sin...
