Re: Bakers Auto Fire

Did anyone notice the property was listed for sale August 13, 2018? That is before the fire. Sounds like Baker's was already going down before the fire finished them off.

What makes you think that?! The pictures you posted clearly show an original nylon coated cam gear.

They are the caps for the door-pull brackets on the 1969 Mark III.

Re: Attn Mark III 460/365hp owners Timing

Could it be, the timing marks tell the story? My marks are 0*, 1*, 2*, 3*, 4* 15* and 30*. If it was meant to be set at 10*, wouldn't it have that mark? That would seem to make sense. Te point of all of this is that you should tune your car using the factory shop manual, don't rely on a valve cover...

Re: Attn Mark III 460/365hp owners Timing

Hi, Can you explain why all 385 built, 365hp 460s can have different settings? Did they figure out the engine ran better at 4* after the first year? They were chasing changing emissions requirements every year. Lowering the timing reduces certain emissions. You seem to be under the impression that ...

Re: Attn Mark III 460/365hp owners Timing

The correct timing for the 1969 Mark III is 10º BTDC. There was no CA emissions in 1969, the picture above (550 RPM, 10º BTDC) is the correct valve cover decal for the 1969 Mark III 460.

Re: Rear window vent air control lever

"Rear Vent" opens the air extractor under the rear window. It lets air flow out of the car, not in.

Re: Moonroof '79 Mark V

I realize this is a thread from the distant past, but I just worked on this exact issue yesterday and want to post my findings for posterity sake. 1978 Lincoln Continental Mark V The issue was that the roof would only work when the car was first started. After a couple of years the roof stopped work...

Re: What year did Autolite change over?

The decision in Ford Motor Co. v United States ordered Ford not to produce spark plugs for 10 years, so it is safe to say there would be no Motorcraft brand spark plugs until 1983. As far as carburetors, filters, etc were concerned they probably switched everything to Motorcraft brand in 1973. Jeremy

Re: Degreasing a leather-wrapped steering wheel

I know this is old, but I just wanted to add my recommendation. I have used BlueMagic Leather & Vinyl cleaner for this exact chore for years with excellent results. BlueMagic really cuts through the gunk but is designed for leather so it won't hurt anything. Available at fine auto parts stores e...

I have never seen any documentation to confirm this, and none of the original factory photos show a chrome grille.

The positive cable should have a red rubber boot that covers the terminal. Narraganset reproduces the positive cable WITH the correct boot.

I prefer the tern point-slut, a whore does it for money, we just do it because we like it ;-)

I got a maintenance-free AGM reproduction battery for $300 many years ago and it is still going strong and getting me full points at meets.
