Re: 65 Gas Tank Removal
Correct! We do have a drive on lift. However, if we use the lift as a hoist that means the car has to be moved off and moved underneath, but currently the car has the gas tank completely disconnected. I am not sure we can push it back into position. When you used a drive on lift as a hoist, did you ...

Re: 65 Gas Tank Removal
Everyone, sorry, I forgot to say I am working on a '65 convertible. We do have access to a 4 post lift, but the vehicle is currently on the lift.

Re: 65 Gas Tank Removal
Hi Tony! Thanks for the suggestions. We did jack up on the rear subframe rails, but our jacks are not tall enough. We never jacked on the trunk floor at all. If we use a hoist, where would you suggest we connect to? Bumper? The only problem with the hoist is it doesn’t seem like it would be safe to ...

Re: 65 Gas Tank Removal
Hi everyone! I realize this thread is a little old, but currently working on this exact same project. We have detached the shocks from the top and jacked the car as far up as we can. Unfortunately, the tank doesn’t seem to budge past a certain point. We jacked the car up pretty far, but I’m guessing...

‘56 Premier Leaf Spring Replacement
Has anyone on here ever replaced the leaf springs on a ‘56 Premier? We got everything off except the one front bolt. It’s not rusty at all, but we can’t find a tool to press out the bolt. The bolt goes way back into the frame, and we can barely even see it to get a tool on it. Any thoughts on how th...

Thanks all! We will look at the play. It sounds like the steering gearbox needs to be rebuilt. That sounds like some fun.

Re: 1966 67 68 Steering Gear Isolator Solution
Hi Steve, So, the bolt sticking out was a new bolt that we were going to try and hold the steering gearbox on until we got the spacers our. But, we quickly found out there are none on this car. When you turn the steering wheel just slightly the whole car pulls hard in that direction. There is no abi...

Re: 1966 67 68 Steering Gear Isolator Solution
My dad’s ‘62 does not even have the rubber isolators, the gearbox appears to be mounted flush with the body. Is this something that needs to be done? Since we have no rubber isolators, is this not the cause for the steering to wander?

Re: Introduction: Mark III Owners
It definitely does take a very motivated team, I agree. I too would like to see this move along. Unfortunately from my end it’s been difficult to. I just started a new job recently and I’ve been laser focused on that. If anyone wants to drive, I’d be happy to provide info as we go along.

Re: Alternative fuel tanks options for mark iii?
I have often wondered if this fuel tank would work? I have not taken any measurements, but you might look into it.

You are welcome, John. They are not of the highest quality, but I may be able to locate the originals for you if you want.
And, we plan on it. We will just be in Hickory Corners, and not Dearborn. It will be good to see you!

John,
If you should want some pictures with the dash removed from a '61, here are some of ours from that project awhile back.

'70 Mark III Gas Tank Cleaning
Hi All, Since the Mark III gas tanks are notorious for rusting out I wanted to make sure mine was clean, so I dropped the gas tank. It turns out that it is actually solid with what appears to be crystallized gas. So, my question is how do I clean this out and should I seal it? If I seal it, what pro...

'70 Mark III Pertronix Ignitor
Hi All, I have looked around and found quite a bit of information on the Pertronix Ignitor systems, but not found anything exactly related to my issue. I have had one on my Mark III for over a year now with no problems until recently, it has started to die as it warms up. Upon inspecting the rotor a...
