Re: Hyundai launching luxury brand
And yes, their quality of materials are top notch, and the keep improving each generation. I plan on going to next months SD International Auto Show where all the new cars will be availabile for people to sit in so they can get a feel for each vehicle. Also the Ride and Drive event keeps expanding ...

Re: Hyundai launching luxury brand
I just recently leased a 2015 Genesis Ultimate Sedan. So far, I've been impressed with it. It replaced a leased Acura TL. I looked at the new Acura TLX, and for some reason I did not like it as well as my old Acura. Looked at a Lincoln MKZ, and liked it, but was not swept away. Then I stopped by th...

Re: Refreshed 2017 Lincoln MKZ
Is it just me or does the new Lincoln Continental/mkz grill set up look a hell of a lot like a Kia grill please let me know if I'm the only one or not Yeah I was waiting for someone to say that. It looks like a mash up between the Kia Optima, and Jaguar XJ. There's no denying that. Now, the front e...

Re: Hyundai launching luxury brand
This is a good move for Hyundai. About time actually. I remember a few years ago I test drove an Equus, and I was very impressed by everything in that car. It pretty much had every feature in the book, and the ride was amazingly smooth. Air suspension at all four corners, and the rear seat legroom w...

Re: Are new oils ruining our cars? Must Read!
I am a firm believer now of adding a Zinc additive to these older engines. I was having a bad lifter tick in my 64 Cadillac recently, it mostly happened at startup, then usually went away after the engine warmed. But lately after driving the car for 20 minutes, the lifter tick came back and wouldn't...

Re: What year was the last Lincoln four-door hardtop?
I don't think it really matters if the windows didn't have a frame or not. Lincoln never built a hardtop sedan in the 60's on up as they all have a center post. The verts are obviously hardtops like you said so that's one exception. A true hardtop doesn't have a post at all. I believe the 58-60 Cont...

Re: 78 Conti Engine idle goes up and down, cuts out in Drive
The surging could be uneven or possibly one of the two carb floats sinking of being saturated. Fuel is not being metered evenly hence the surging. Clean out the carb. Inspect and test the floats. Change the pcv valve while you're at it. That could contribute to your burning smell. I actually just r...

78 Conti Engine idle goes up and down, cuts out in Drive.
This is a strange problem I am having recently and I really don't know what it could be. After the car warms up and I've been driving around, the engine sounds and feels like the rpms drop a little bit, and then recovers, drops a little bit and recovers. Sometimes to the point where the engine almos...

Re: Lincoln Vs. imperial Vs. Cadillac
Lincoln was barely finding it's way in the 60's, and many prospected buyers that wanted a luxury car, defaulted to Cadillac. As great as 60's Continentals are, they seem to only have resonated with the older conservative crowd, while Cadillac attracted all age groups with it's more youthful sleeker ...

Re: What year was the last for VENT windows on big Lincolns?
My 78 also has power vent windows. I think Lincoln was wise to keep this feature as it's an easy way to get fresh air in the car without messing up your hair do. :D It also adds a touch of that classic luxury that the other 2 luxury brands did away with. What makes the 70's Lincoln so awesome, is th...

Re: Painted 70's Lincoln Hubcaps?
If theses wheelcovers are like most, they are built up of several pieces which you can take apart. (liquid Wrench or Break Free works well on the attaching screws) Once taken apart, you can mask and paint the white center. you should use a metal primer and then a metal top coat. You may end up pain...

Painted 70's Lincoln Hubcaps?
IMG_20150719_135532.jpg I bought these Hubcaps off Ebay from a 72 Continental a couple years back, and now I finally want to put them on my 78 as I can't stand the original caps that came with the car. These caps are beautiful and stylish. The problem is, I only have 3 matching ones, I purchased an...

Re: 2017 Lincoln Continental
First time in a long time has Lincoln finally done something great. Sure it's not what we all want, but it's definitely a step in the right direction. Bringing back the name "Continental" along with decent styling and the hopes for an amazing interior + amenities will propel the brand to a...

Re: 1979 Cadillac Fleetwood
AussieMark. Cadillac's build quality slipped during the 1971-73 or 74ish model years badly, somebody from another forum I read that the frames on the 71-73 years were especially flimsy and had rattling problems which I know for sure because I used to own a 72 Sedan Deville, and it wasn't nearly as t...
