Re: 1969 Continental Motor Mounts
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I found a set of NOS mounts (C8VY-6038A and B) and they are on their way to me. I will have to be careful and not unleash all 550 lbs-ft of torque on the new ones. Speaking of torque, how tight should I make the bolts when I put the new ones in? Any ide...

1969 Continental Motor Mounts
Hello, I was preparing to replace the motor mounts in my '69 Sedan today. I have the car jacked up and it looks like the mounts are way different than the Westar replacements I ordered. The ones I have on the car have two l-shaped plates bonded together with rubber and two bolts each in the engine, ...

Very interesting "What if?" Mark V
Check out this link: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3324003 What if the Mark V had been made in 1980? What if Ford decided that the simulated wood in the Mark was not befitting of a car of this stature? This car answers those questions. At first I thought I was looking at a prototype or a one-off spe...

Re: Custom Dash Panels for 66-69
I have an extra one that I bought, thinking it would be better than mine, only to find it was worse. It's basically a piece of clear green plastic with a decal laid on top that is similar to the kind of water-activated decals that you get with model kits (crazy for Ford's top offering). It does not ...

Re: Custom Dash Panels for 66-69
I wonder if there are any 68-69 Continentals out there with that panel intact. The speedometer panel basically a wet transfer decal and the heat from the panel lights cracked them. Mike looks ok during the day but detracts from the appearance at night

Re: Custom Dash Panels for 66-69
Hello Adamup, I would be interested in purchasing a speedometer decal for my 69 Sedan in the original wood style. Have you seen any vinyl that matches the wood look, or is that why you went to the aluminum? This speedometer overlay is destroyed on all 68-69 Lincolns and would be an incredible restor...

Re: what grade of gas do you use?
This is a good question. I have had a problem for the longest time in my 69 460 Lincoln of pinging at more than half throttle. I have had the ignition timing looked at countless times and the car has a new timing chain. I had just expected to live with the poor running until I decided to try some 10...

Has anyone retrofitted a coolant overflow tank to a 66-69?
Hello, I wanted to retrofit a coolant overflow tank to my 69 Lincoln Continental When I drive the car any distance, I am always confronted with antifreeze overflowing on the driveway/parking lot, etc. From reading the archives, it seems like I need a bottle, and a different radiator cap that allows ...

Re: What are your views on LCOC judging?
I think its an interesting topic. I was at the Eastern National Meet of 2007. I entered my 69 as an exhibition car, because I knew that it would not hold up against some of the 100 point Lincolns there. I had a blast, even though there was no judging on my car. My belief is that cars should be drive...

Re: Lincolns Win Destruction Derby
I have been to one demo derby and it was a sad experience for me. Unfortunately, they have to wreck the cars I like. There was a 78 Town coupe, along with some mid-70's GM cars and some 80's Town Cars. The biggest heartbreaker was a 1968 Eldorado. The Town coupe lasted a few seconds, until it got hi...

What about the Versailles? First halogen lamps and first car with a basecoat/clearcoat finish. Also, the Versailles was the first car to offer a garage door opener on the sun visor.

Re: 67 Lincoln do I have anything Special?
Interesting thread. Good luck with your 67 Lincoln, by the way. Barry, I think that the question of options is interesting. I think it really would impact my decision, especially on a Lincoln. My 69 has everything but the buckets, rear window defoger, the LSD/3.00 ratio and the automatic headlamp di...

Re: Stainless Steel Lincoln
That stainless Lincoln convertible is my personal dream car. Imagine being able to drive a classic Lincoln year round without fear of rust. That's something that I can only dream about here in NY with the winter coming.

Re: Your impressions of your first Lincoln...
I got my first Lincoln after my freshman year of college (2000). My school was 3 hours away from home and my father said I would have to replace my $400 1973 Buick LeSabre that was rusted and on the old side. I drove this as my daily driver and lavished attention on my 77 Grand Prix SJ at the time. ...

69 Linc. What kind of battery do you recommend?
Hello, I think my battery is finally about to give up the ghost, as it is 5 years old and doesn't hold a charge too long. So, what do you recommend for a replacement? Currently, the car has a Douglas Gold Series battery that I purchased from a store that specializes in truck parts, as my preferred a...
