Re: Head light pop up on they own???

It’s usually a faulty check valve and can also be a cracked headlamp switch in the vacuum switch portion.

Re: 1979 Lincoln Continental - Fuel Odor When It's Not Running

I trim my clamps to length and position them, but show us how you clamp with alternates. Some clamps are supposed to be tower clamps, which are lower quality than original used to be and not stainless or plated steel anymore. Any more clamp discussion, and I’ll split this topic. Did OP did his fuel ...

Re: Correct 1977 Hood Pad?

AFAIK, there are repro hood pads that fit but no one reproduces the pressed/molded pads for 1975-79. If you want super correct, you need a good parts car.

Re: 1979 Lincoln Continental - Fuel Odor When It's Not Running

The industry uses constant tension clamps for a reason. They’re easy to install and they don’t leak. They are not made to be reused by the consumer. They are intended to be removed and replaced using the proper tools. With proper hoses, proper installation locations, and new parts, they work great M...

Re: trim piece

Size doesn't seem right, but it could be something-17C830-A which is a center rear bumper pad.

It looks like its for a vertical bumperette protector, but which model, I cannot locate.

Re: trim piece

It's a bumper pad, all right. No idea why it's not in the MPC. There's many a number I've found missing from the MPCs.

Re: trim piece

My MPC goes to XXXX-17997-X with no entries for 17C997, The next page is 18000.

There is no 17x830 or 18x830.

It's something related to Bumper Guards and it's for the LH side.

Post a pic and let a Mark IV owner identify it.

Did you change the fuel filter?

My 77 occasionally stalled and it was a failing ignition switch.

I found a summary using DuckDuckGo but it said it was deleted. Considering I don’t allow users to delete posts, I have no idea what happened.

Re: 1979 Lincoln Continental - Fuel Odor When It's Not Running

The fuel pump is on that side of the 400 motor, visible from under the car. There should be a flex line from the car body to the pump and a hard line up to the carb from there. My guess is the flex line is rotted or leaking from either clamp. Jack it up, crawl under, and push on the rubber line a li...
