This is easily doable IF a you think about what things need to be where when the top isn’t there. You can permanently set the appropriate switches to top up or top down and the trunk will open and close as you wish. You will want to disable or disconnect some relays or switches. I always thought that 90 ohms would drive a gage to full and an open would drive it to empty.

While activating the seat switch, gently tap the transmission housing with a hammer.

The solenoid mechanism needs to be cleaned and relubricated. There are a few threads here on how to do that, but if you take it apart and take pics, you can figure it out.
