Re: Acceptable booster leak down '64
Alright. I should note that the leak down test as I performed it did not include the T check valve.

Acceptable booster leak down '64
What is the acceptable amount of leak down when vacuum testing the stock brake booster? I mityvac'd down to 20"hg and it dropped to 5"hg in exactly 6 minutes.
The pedal seems to drop some normal amount when 18" vacuum is applied. Video: https://photos.app.goo.gl/xQP742XBxfWRNEGUA

1964 Throttle linkage
https://photos.app.goo.gl/t9nhWKmaR3sQCTXY9 Anyone have a source for a throttle rod measuring 9.5"? My new to me '64 came with a Edlebrock carb (AFB style) and a 10.5" rod which I found wasn't allowing full throttle opening. I shortened that one , but not very well. Would like to have the ...

Re: fuel pump frustration
Gotta love when that happens. :D It isn't that strange that something fixes itself on these cars, after giving it a little help. ---Tony Yep. I have a love/hate situation with those types of problems: love that it's working again, hate that I don't really know what was going on. In any case, I'm ca...

Re: fuel pump frustration
As mentioned it the original post, I did using the Carter umbrellas.dcm5652 wrote:Pictured above are the check-valves inside the fuel pump, if you did not replace these then you can have a back flow problem.

Re: fuel pump frustration
Just a note to say the situation is resolved. I'm unsure why the filter bowl seemed to be draining back, but that stopped. As for the difficulty starting, well it seems that something plugged up the passageway to the accelerator pump discharge port. I wasn't getting any prime from mashing the pedal....

Re: fuel pump frustration
Dan, that sounds like a criticism rather that a helpful suggestion as to what to try next. I'm sure you meant to do better.

fuel pump frustration
Well the original 50 year old CArter ('66) fuel pump diaphragm started leaking into the oil on an otherwise perfectly well functioning pump. No problem, I ordered the rebuild kit from Then N Now and have been having troubles since. The first mistake was my part (put the smiley face in backwards desp...

dumping those sep prop/metering valves '66
I want to get rid of the separate metering/proportioning valves from my '66 and do a '67 set up. I don't really know what that looks like though. I've already bought the '67 dual chamber master cylinder. What's the common wisdom on such a conversion? Some GM style combination valve like this : https...

Does your AC work? System fully charged? If the freon is low, no voltage will be present. If your AC works, then it may be remnants of an old after market speed control unit. Any numbers on the parts? Yes, A/C works. Not cruise either. Had aftermarket cruise on when I got the car. Took all that off...

What is this thing? '61
It mounts to the back of the valley pan, and hangs above the bell housing. It has one vacuum connection and one electric connection. I thought it might have something to do with cruise ( which this car doesn't have) or possibly a/c. It attaches to the throttle assy, where I'm pointing to the hook li...
