Anybody have any recommendations or advice regarding replacing/updating shocks for a ‘72 Mark?
Thanks!

Re: ‘72 Mark IV power steering
Thanks. I see ‘72 Linc lines are purportedly available but I haven’t looked closely yet to see if the bends are similar. At first glance, they are not the same, but might work just the same.

Re: ‘72 Mark IV power steering
Didn’t know they could be made, I’ll check around, thanks. I’d prefer to fix it myself but not if I have to buy an expensive crimper I’ll use once!
Thank you both,
Peter

‘72 Mark IV power steering
Greetings all,
Anybody have any experience with leaking power steering lines? One of mine is leaking right where the rubber line meets the large metal crimp line. I’m wondering if I can just repair the seal or do I need to source a whole new line.

Re: ‘72 Mark Low Fuel warning light
Boys, first I apologize for not researching this better initially. Turns out the ‘72 shop manual covers this in detail. There are 2 types of Ford low fuel warning systems in ‘72, thermistor and switch. Marks are the switch type and these switches, located above the glove box, are usually the culprit...

Re: ‘72 Mark Low Fuel warning light
Thanks Boys, so is the thermistor part of the sending unit or a separate unit in the bottom of the tank??

‘72 Mark Low Fuel warning light
My low fuel warning light now stays on and the car still has 1/2 tank of fuel. Seemed to coincide with me installing a new battery, but this is probably just a coincidence. Any ideas? And would anyone happen to have an extra Mark IV driver side door edge guard? Any Mark iv will fit. Thanks boys, Peter

Re: 1972 Mark battery
I rolled the dice and went for the Walmart Maxx 24f since they didn’t have the 27f. And it’s about $100 less than other brands but still has a 3 year warranty.
Optima’s are great, have one in my ‘41 Buick, but expensive.
Thanks boys, for all the good info

Re: 1972 Mark battery
Agree, and the battery tray is much longer than the length of a 24F, but that’s the “group” listed for a ‘72 Mark. The 27F is the correct length but not listed for my car. I read a thread here noting the 27F was the better choice and wanted to confirm this.

1972 Mark battery
From what I can gather, my ‘72 Mark calls for a Group 24F battery, but they tend to suck so a Group 27F is more desirable. Did I get it right??

Re: 1964 Brake Pedal Hissing?! NEW Booster and Dual Master
Agreed. The hiss, I’ve been led to believe, is a vacuum leak either in the booster itself, or where the brake/vacuum lines come through the firewall down by the pedal.

Re: 1964 Brake Pedal Hissing?! NEW Booster and Dual Master
I have exactly the same situation in my ‘72 Mark. I now have a heavy hiss every time I apply the brakes that wasn’t there before. The brakes seem to work fine but the hiss has definitely increased in volume, and is coming from down by the pedal, not in the engine compartment by the booster.
