stainless valves

do what the machine shop suggest, if you want to know the truth. Stainless steel lighter and more expensive, higher end rev. stuff. If its just a stock rebuild don't waste the money if your old valves are good for 80k.

I hesitate at first, but then I am fine....

Your mech. may have forgotten to adjust the accelerator pump after rebuilding the carb. or the or the diapharm is torn. Look down the carb with the engine off and work the throttle you should see fuel squirting down the barrels.

Bushed finding bushings!

Check with RARE PARTS at 1-800-621-2008. You may need to have a parts buddie or a shop order for you because they only do business with parts stores and shops.

Synthetic Brake Fluid

Synthentic brake fluid cannot be mixed with reg. brake fluid or it will gel up your lines and probably never get it out. Some motorcycles, aircraft, and military vehicles use it because of its higher boil off point compared to dot3 and 4 fluids. A more realistic reason the manuf. don't use syn.brake...

460 interchangability

I know some of it, the intake manifold has to be changed because the angle on the CJ and SCJ heads are different than the standard heads. How ever you can have a machine shop install the CJ valves in your heads and then have the shop do a port and polish on the heads and they will out flow the facto...

Engine overheat,Help!!

Has your friend bothered to verify that the correct timing has been set? If the timing is to far retarded it will cause overheating. Next note is that the t-stat has probably warped from all the overheating and isn't helping matters any.

what the heck????

You didn't mention if all your electrical gauges worked backwards.Ha Ha, sorry , electricity like water will always take the path of least resistance. If you started your car and left it running you can disconnet the battery(w/alt) and it would still keep running!,no joke. The alt.just needs a littl...

430 to 460 and C6 Engine Swap / 58 Lincoln

Remember all horsepower number where over rate in the 50's than in the late 60's,70's and to the standard in the 80's of brake horsepower. An engine rated at 400Hp back then would only make about 300Hp now.

locked, stock, and two smokin brakes

You said all 4 brakes are locked up right. Don't bother with the penatrent oil, get those wheel cylinders replaced first, because you only have parking brakes on the rear not on all 4 tires.

Updating the stereo - -65 sedan

I was referenced to this thread a while ago when I posted an article on a radio system from kustom autosound about a remotly mounted stereo that was RF controlled. Someone returned and said they had bad luck with it. I have found something new maybe some of know about or not, a IR controlled remote ...

Tell your mechanic that since he moved the cables and then didn't return them to there proper location and adjustment that the transmission that needs replacement is his problem. If he didn't fix the car it is his liabilty to fix it. If he still gives you trouble then go to B.A.R. and they will laun...
