I think I'm screwed - can anyone help.
Matt, by now you've problably checked everything and hopefully found the problem. If not, then I would suspect the new Expansion tank. Was it new or rebuilt? If rebuilt, it could have a faulty solder job somewhere/ Did it have a crack underneath where the tube comes out? Did the mating surfaces on t...

Cont. 430 same as in 59' tbird??
One item that you should know is that the first OHV-8 that came out in 1952 was a 317 ci and it was stroked and bored up to and including 1957 where it was 368 ci. The 383-410-430-462 were made from a new block in 1958 as I have read. Leon

My car sags!
I had all the springs on my '62 Lincoln replaced because of sagging. There is a section in the Maint manual that covers this pretty well. I can get you some data outof my books and will post them here later today.

Running Temp on '62 Lincoln
I had to buy a new radiator, but that was due to corrosion. Since then, no problems with it. Driven in Arizona in summer. Driven to Laughlin, Nevada in 117 degrees, needle went up using ac, shut off ac, all ok. I did get a heavy duty radiator for an air conditioned car when i replaced the radiator. ...

DAN IS RIGHT. I AM RUNNING A MANIFOLD OFF A 1959 MODEL ON MY '62. EVEN THE MERCURY AND T-BIRD USED THE 430 ENGINE, SO DON'T FORGET TO CHECK THOSE TOO. YES AND THE 462 CI IS THE SAME BLOCK, SO IT PROBABLY FITS TOO. LEON

Real wire wheels for '68 continental
Dan,
If you want to see how a slab-side Lincoln looks with wire wheels, look on E-bay Motors for a 1964 convertible from DFW area. What do you think? I'll withhold my opinion.
Leon PS Its only going to be on the auction for a few more days.

elctronic ignition?
Pertonix and perhaps others i.e. Mallory, Accel etc, have conversion kits that eliminate the breaker points. I haven't tried them because I have an antique Mallory Dual Point distributor planned for my car. These conversions are supposed to be idiot proof and fit under the existing distributor cap. ...

Fuel
You may also have a vacuum leak (pretty common on these cars) and this is causing the air:fuel ratio to become too lean. This will cause your engine to run hot and then pre-ignition occurs. Does it also want to keep running after you turn off the ignition? Listen for the tell-tale sound of hissing u...

I've studied the earlier AFB's found on the 63-65 Lincolns and they are 625cfm. I'll bet the later ones are the same. Leon

Anemic ignition coils
Dan, No I didn't put the Pertronix igniter in, I have an antique Mallory dual point distributor that is going to replace the single point system. I hope I don't burn the plugs!!! Leon

Oil Pressure on my 64 Lincoln
You didn't say how many miles are on this engine, but what you are seeing could be normal wear in the main and rod bearings if your car has over 100K miles or so. Also, check to see that your engine is not getting too hot as this would cause the oil viscosity to drop and your oil pressure to drop al...

87 lincoln won't start
I had the same problem with my 88 Town Car. It was the distributor. My car had 128K miles on it though. The distributor has some centrifugal connectors that engage when the engine starts to turn, they get dirty, worn, or ??? but THEY quit making the conections. They present an intermittent problem t...

Running Temp on '62 Lincoln
I have a '62 Linc w/air cond. I'm sure I have a 180 degree thermostat and the temp gauge goes to the middle of the spectrum and will go up a little running the AC in traffic. Sounds like you need to determine your thermostat opening temp. Use a candy thermometer and stick it in the top of the radiat...
