Very different
462 and 460 are completely different. Nothing will interchange and the transmission bolt pattern is different as well. Please do not scrap them! I would like to buy them but there is this ocean in the way making transport a bit difficult. Do the 462s run?

Don´t do it...
...with that car. Far too good to be customized. Since you will redo the interior, paint and probably some body modifications you can start with a car that needs some work anyway. Doesn´t have to be a wreck.
Yours is so nice you should keep it original.

Old manuals are not the best source here since they probably recommend the best oils available at the time. If it says 10W30 then you are probably better off with a 5W40 or 10W50 or even better oil, depending on how cold or hot it gets where you drive. Here in Germany dealer workshops always use abo...

Many of the replacement refrigerants are under much greater pressure. For instance that foxtoolsupply refrigerant is under pressures of over 300psi...add that with being highly flamable :?. Many of the replacement refrigerants are highly corrosive. The Fox Tool site shows 150psi for their replaceme...

Its the headers
john- are you sure the 460 is wider than the 462? 429/460 is a notoriously 'small' big block and you can wedge it into places a big block chevy or dodge would never fit. The problem with fitting the 460 is the exhaust header shape. The 430/462 headers curve upwards over the chassis rails while the 4...

Its not just engine design. Motor oil has improved a lot, tolerances in production have gone down (no running-in required anymore) and harder metals are being used for the liners. A 50´s design built by todays standards would be pretty good, without the complication. Mercedes has used timing chai...

Bad Ground
Your ground wire may be coming off. A bad ground connection can couse all sorts of strange faults. Nothing works without electricity.

Head Gasket
If you have a broken rings there will be a lot of oil fog coming out of the crankcase through the crankcase ventilation. You would also find oil in the air cleaner, if the ventilation goes there. I would say this is a blown head gasket. I would not put any gunk in my engine, especially not a 462. Ch...

Sounds like a worn distributor to me. The engine stalls because you get too much advance, usually because the return springs have softened or there is too much play. I have seen this on a non-Lincoln. A rebuild distributor (or distributor rebuild) will fix that and would seem normal at your mileage.

Muffler-Sound
They often fake the sound in movies. The Mustang in "Bullit" was actually a GT40. You can replace silencers with straight-through pipes. Try removing the rear silencers first, that is the easiest ones. This is not legal in Germany, though. (Hey, where do you live?)

National Sales Tax vs. Income Tax
There is another side to this. A lower or no income tax could mean lower wages and therefore lower domestic manufacturing costs, while the value added tax makes all products more expensive, including imports.

Clark, Yes I have a 67 Sedan. One liter regular is about 1.75 Canadian Dollars here, but that is no problem because I have stripped the engine right now. You can "save" the video - look inside the cache directory of your browser. Copy the 4 mb mpeg to another directory and rename it - done...
