NOS 1979 Town Car rub strips?
Anyone know a source for NOS exterior trim for a 1979 Town Car? I'm looking for the factory trim that runs along the side of the vehicle, about 1-1/2" wide, aluminum with a vinyl insert.

RE: Drums
Aluminum has a different thermal expansion rate than steel. This could lead to slightly unequal braking force and the vehicle pulling to one side.
P.S. If you don't know how old the brake hoses are, change them. If it's rubber and more than five years old, it's crap.

62 Top Wont Go After Car Heats Up?
I wonder if the P.O. had loosened the cables to prevent a power drain from killing the battery while the car was waiting for you.

My convertible got hit :(
I don't think that paint matching will be a big issue. The stainless fender edge trim serves as a paint break and would enable you to paint the entire side of the vehicle without worrying about blending the new paint with the old at fender tops, "c" pillars (not a worry for you) etc. The m...

1979 Town Car towing questions
I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but regardless of the factory recommendations for towing, I think using a 24-year-old car to pull 7,000 pounds even occasionally is like asking my Grandma to run a decathelon. I would be particularly concerned about the frame. Corrosion and metallurgy-related f...

I bet that car would drum up quite a bit of business if driven near a group of Lincoln purists!

does a 65 lc have tilt steering??
The release switch is on the end of the shift lever. Tilt steering was an option for 1965. Willard is right about the indicator. This system has a hydraulic adjustment, not requiring the wheel to be horsed around by hand.

slabside leaf spring ?
Lincoln convertibles are complex enough without the addition of an airbag system. Leaf springs are the cheapest, lowest-tech most reliable springs ever placed under an automobile. Have yours re-arched by someone who has experience in this kind of work (it's more than just physically bending the spri...

There is a high probability that this is a bad oxygen sensor. I'm sure Dan White will weigh in on this.

replacing a 430 with ?????
Another issue to bear in mind when considering an engine/transmission swap is noise, vibration and harshness. Lincoln engineers spent an incredible amount of time tuning engine, transmission and exhaust system mounts to deliver a smooth driving vehicle, no mean feat in a unibody design. All of this ...
