Re: '63 Fuel gauge not working

Thanks Lee. I didn"t install resistor correctly. I was trying only a 10 ohm just to see if there was a change ( don't have a 100 ohm yet). Don't know the formula for resistance but obviously 200 ohms added will make things worse at the full end.Would a poor connection increase the ohms?

Re: '63 Fuel gauge not working

Thanks tomo but my sending unit float is connected directly to the contact that travels along the resistor. I have cleaned the contact and resistor wire with no change in ohm readings. I've tried temporary resisters with no change. Possibly not installing resistors correctly though. The sending unit...

Re: '63 Fuel gauge not working

According to Mark 11 enterprises the sending unit for a 57 lincoln is extremely rare and they can't locate one.Might have to add resistors to make it work properly

Re: '63 Fuel gauge not working

Yes the gauge goes to full with wire grounded out. The gauge tries to move a little off empty but tank is about 3/4 full. I'm not sure if its the original sender or not. I believe there is a few with the 6 screw mount that will fit but aren't necessarily correct and I can't find a picture of the cor...

Re: '63 Fuel gauge not working

57 lincoln Capri. My fuel sending unit Ranges from 198 to 80 ohms. Is that normal as my gauge only read empty. Unit wire to gauge has continuity and voltage is correct to gauge

Re: Instrument (a/k/a Constant) Voltage Regulator

Thanks Lee but it will be such a pain removing the fuel gauge I'll probably try to get a new one in case I'm not able to repair my original. It is so uncommon for the gauge to be faulty instead of the sending unit so I want to be certain it is the gauge

Re: Instrument (a/k/a Constant) Voltage Regulator

1957 Lincoln Capri. So if the constant voltage regulator seems to be working correctly( volts vary between 2 and 8 at gauge) and I ground the disconnected sender wire which has continuity to fuel gauge and gauge does not move off empty does that definitely determine my gauge is faulty?

Re: brake fluid compatibility

Didn't I say I would probably get a overhaul kit for the booster master cylinder. I've worked on vehicles and heavy duty equipment my whole life also and don't need to be badmouthed by you guys. I don't think you went to too many accidents where the brakes failed probably just didn't use their brake...

Re: brake fluid compatibility

The rubber separated from the metal on the end seal of the master cylinder and I'm too cheap to buy an overhaul kit. I want to try and glue it back together. I might contaminate the whole system doing this so i need to know what adhesive would be the best choice. I've heard seal-all or JB Weld but n...

Re: Brake booster interchange

It has vacuum to the booster but won"t assist with braking no matter where I adjust push rod . I disassembled the booster and inspected the leather seal and all the rubbers parts and valves and everything appears ok. That"s when I realized by parts identification the booster is out of a 59...

Brake booster interchange

Will a 1959 Bendix treadle vac booster work properly in a 1957 Lincoln capri ? Seems to mount correctly with a bit of pedal free play has plenty of vacuum but doesn't have boost

Re: Parts Wanted? Attn Newbies:Did you look here?

I've been dealing with Mark 11 Enterprises in California and they have been very reasonable and have tried hard for me. They have gave me the best shipping rates possible to Alberta. I know I'm not buying parts for my 56 T-bird and expect parts to more rare and expensive. I know how to repair and ma...

Re: New sub-forum!

I own a beautiful pink 1957 Lincoln Capri 2 door hardtop that looks like it just rolled out of the factory but unless they are filming in northern Alberta Canada I doubt it will ever be on a movie set. I also have a beautiful granddaughter that was a star in high school and college theater and has d...

Re: sediment bowl filter

Lee Thanks. I'll see if I can locate these. It's not the same as the T-bird one, as I have a 56 T-bird, its the one in the fuel pump.
