Re: All The Way With LBJ
Lee - Sorry, I do not see any other Goldwater buttons. Chevy - Thank you for your service - sincerely. My grandfather was the oldest of 6 sons. He was not called up in WWII (maybe for age), but his 5 brothers all served. As the war progressed, the 5 brothers mailed letters (with uniform patches, ins...

Re: All The Way With LBJ
Found "LBJ for the USA" along with some other campaign buttons from that time. My father left me his collection of doo-dads and such. He had his own odds and ends that he threw in a desk drawer in his study along with those given to him by his father and grandfather. He eventually cleaned ...

Re: 1966 Top hydraulic cylinders - this doesn't look right ???
Just when you'd thought you'd seen it all! Shag - Super work first with your pics and then the comparison pics from Dan and Fraser so that you could figure it out! That's what makes this forum so great. Sure hope you don't run into any more of these messes to untangle. These cars are complicated eno...

Re: '58 Fuel Senders Rust, and NEW ones read LOW
Great Thread here. I have, and suppose many others have, bought one of these "NEW in Stainless" sending units from our Vendors. Then, realize that the fuel guage reads a QUARTER or a liitle more LOW. On further inspections, I have , and suppose many others have, sent their NEW sending uni...

Re: Correct 1966 Gas Cap picture
Here’s what the factory locking cap looked like Thanks for the picture Lee. Do you know if the Autolite locking cap used on other year Lincolns? My '63 had a locking cap when I got it. I don't recall if it was an Autolite. I took mine off and replaced it. I'm sure the old one is in my old parts bin...

Amazon - there’s some good info on accessing that lower cluster in this thread.

Re: 1961-1965 Interior Wood Trim Kits
On my car, I have a few pieces that need attention and one that needs replacing. I'm not confident in my own wood finishing abilities to attempt a refresh on what's on the car, or try to craft a piece for the missing one. It would be nice to hear from someone that has used this kit to share with us ...

1961-1965 Interior Wood Trim Kits
I found this outfit today on-line that sells interior wood trim kits for 1961-1965 Lincoln Continentals. They have them in several colors / finishes. https://autoclassicled.com/product/1961-1962-interior-trim-grey/ I found that they (autoclassicled.com) also sell them on eBay. Has anyone here on the...

Re: LED Conversion Kit
If the LEDs are simple twist-ins, they may be installed backwards, but I would have expected Bob's to have tested it. Dan - I know what you're saying though about making sure the LED is installed correctly. These were some I noticed that had burned out before I pulled the speedometer. I just hadn't...

Re: LED Conversion Kit
I had my speedometer repaired and when I went to reinstall it, I noticed that some of the blue LEDs that illuminate the speedometer were not working. I first experimented with these blue LEDs in 2018. I love the look but I have had to replace several over time. The metal on them start to corrode and...

Re: '63 Speedometer Not Working
Speedometer was repaired by Bob's Speedometer's and shipped to me. I installed it over the weekend. Never an easy nor fun job but it's done. Won't be able to test drive it until I sort out some other unrelated problems under the hood.

Re: Coolant Leak / Expansion Tank
I have seen those nipples dreadfully corroded on numerous lesser Fords, so it would be possible, I think. They are thin steel, pressed in, so I can't even imagine where to find replacements in that size. Perhaps, if I were a younger man, I would start selling lathe turned replacements that convert ...

Re: Coolant Leak / Expansion Tank
Normally, I would suspect the bypass hose, but that should have been replaced when the engine was rebuilt. Still, that's the easiest and cheapest place to start. You're right. It's hard to tell if the bypass hose was replaced in 2020 when the engine was rebuilt or it's from back in 2017 when the wa...

Re: Coolant Leak / Expansion Tank
Just a thought, before re-filling the tank, dry everything as much as you can, then try to get some brown wrapping paper under there, the location of the leak may be easier to pinpoint. Fraser - I followed your advice. Instead of paper, I used a manila file folder that I cut to fit and pushed it up...

Re: '63 Speedometer Not Working
An update on the speedometer....I shipped it up to Bob's Speedometer's in MI. After they inspected it, they found multiple problems. They are expecting to have it repaired by the end of the week.
